"The name is somewhat odd: one would expect a huge rentral room with scintillating chandeliers. But fortunately, it is not so. Kursaal was given its name by the father of the current owners (two sisters), who worked in Germany. The restaurant is equipped with two intimate rooms. We were seated in the enoteca, which shows a surprising collection of wines, champagne and (sometimes extremely old) spirits. Indeed, wines and their combination with food are Kursaal's specialty. The pairings proposed by one of the owners were excellent, and so was the food. Being in the neighbourhood several times a year, we will certainly come back."

With the owner the best sommelier in Italy in 1974 at the helm and his grandson in the wings, it is absolutely right that Slow Food has thus restaurant and enecoteca in its list of Ascoli Piceno. Superb atmosphere, great wines and food, and juist off the beaten track. Well worth a small detour.

the kursaal is the top that can be found, especially now lunch walking in the historical center of small ascoli. comfortably seated, you can try a vast assortment of food, from the first to the second of various nature and especially delicious. fast sandwiches and Macedonians and more. really the top ..

I found myself very well in this place: personal to the hand, great variety of dishes offered ranging from warm to cold foods, really moderate prices. I happened on Friday and opted for a sea salad, although the first with the sauce of mussels and clams was very inviting! I will definitely return, super recommended for value for money Voir le carte

After a pleasant tour guided to ascoli we were to have lunch in this place, unfortunately the agency had provided a menu and so we agreed paying an extra for the tasting of five ascolan olives per head. we got the rigatoni with pork ribs and mantecato cheese, then the lonzino with potatoes and dessert, all in the norm while the ascolan olives were really good.

The owner opened for dinner just for us so I must admit that this review is not 100% objective. However I can assure you that the dinner we had was marvellous. Their campofilone was so good we had to order it twice! It was followed by a mix of succulent grilled meat and we concluded around 1 AM with some great digestives. Just try the Sgnape dal Checo grappa. Lucio, the owner is a living legend and has so many entertaining stories. We had a great evening at a great place.

"I feel a little uneasy to title this review 'authentic Italian fish retaurant ' because I am not in a position to judge what genuine 'authentic ' is. However I have no difficulty in believing it is authentic, not in a contrived way for presentation purposes, but in doing what they do the way that they do it. A fish retaurant it certainly is, 100%. Both the authentic and fish tags could be taken to be unreservedly positive, and for those dinners seeking these characteristics out they are. So the Excellent reviews are both understandable and deserved. Others may conclude: 'I 'm glad I went, but just once '. The restaraunt is small and tucked away amongst back streets and alleys, so not easy to find. Though we had booked we were the first to arrive and they were not ready for us, so we went and had a glass of wine nearby and returned in half an hour. This didn 't feel like a problem, just 'authentic '. Ordering is not about ticking menus but a chat with the owner who is eager to explain and to adjust here and there. Authentic. He is about seafood, not presentation in elegant surroundings, and it 's seafood not just fish a wide range of seafood was to be found on the few plates we had. Price for both food and wine: very reasonable. So if you 're serious about seafood and authentic Italian then go there, if your not (and it 's ok not to be) go there anyway, it 's an experience. If you definately don 't like seafood and rustic (read unpretentious not rough) Italian then go somewhere else, there is good food to be had for everyone in Ascoli Piceno!"
