"Called in here one lunchtime when I found my usual Bloxham pub of choice, the Elephant Castle, absolutely chock-a-block. A pleasant enough venue, it has been tastefully refurbished but, for me, it lacks the character and the buzz of a traditional pub that you...get in the affore mentioned Elephant'. The food is grade about that at the Elephant' and priced accordingly, although it is still reasonable value for what it is. I thoroughly enjoyed the Roasted Belly of Pork which came with mustard mash, some very nice red cabbage, carrots and sugar-snap peas. Curiously there is a Theakstons sign on the pub and also an interesting Theaksons lamp to the rear but none of that Yorkshire brewery's ales on sale. There are four handpumps, not all in use all the time, but ales seem to come exclusively from the Martons stable. Staff are friendly and welcoming. The village stream flows adjacent to the pub."

The joiners arims is typical of an Engish country pub, with a good atmosphere, a lovely choice of ales and beers, and good food on offer. The staff seemed friendly, and it was a nice spot to refresh after a long day!

Came here on a recommendation. Glad we did. Food was superb and staff very attentive. Had a steak and ale pie which was the best i have ever had. And would recommend the chocolate brownie. We will certainly be coming back next time we are...down this end.

As regular diners over many years we see the standard of cooking rise and fall a little as staff change. Currently the newish team is really on the ball. The Sunday lunch was excellent in every ingredient and was a lovely fair priced meal. The...staff, as always, were lovely. Voir le carte

I visited for an early evening dinner and was pleasantly surprised by the wide variety on offer. I ordered their Steak Ale pie which was absolutely delicious and definitely a hearty meal to fulfil my hungry appetite. The waitress Dawn was delightful and upon...clearing my empty plate offered me a choice of deserts, highly recommending the Eton Mess Sundae which was equally as delicious. I’m home for a nap know and will most definitely be returning. Stars.

Bloxham is a picturesque village with old cottages in well kept surroundings. The pub is down a side street off the main highway with on road parking and a private car park at the rear. The quaint stone building has lots of external character some...of which remains inside. A past modernisation looks ok though some areas need another refresh and the toilets definitely need attention. But there is ample seating and a pleasant bar area. We dropped by on the way to visit nearby Broughton Castle (limited opening days/ times) so this venue was convenient for lunch. The menu offered weekday lunches for with half a dozen dishes to choose from. Fish and chips and the scampi came up hot, tasty and ni...

"I don't know what on earth happened last night when we had dinner here, the reviews looked good, and we're struggling to understand how. We're very easily pleased and takes a lot to prompt a complaint, but we had an absolutely awful experience. My partner ordered the belly pork off the specials board, and it turned up on a side plate, a very few overcooked bits of diced pork thrown in with a few veg. I had the cauliflower with braised lentils, this turned out to be a few mainly burnt cauliflower florets thrown into a plate of sludgy lentils. The chunky chips we ordered came out as skinny fries, not a big deal but just added to the general lack of care. We were both mortified, to the point of embarrassment. We ate it as we were hungry and there was nowhere else to go as we were staying at a local campsite. One of the team took the plates away, and another brought the bill. Neither of them asked us how the meal was, else we'd have said how disappointed we were. So we just left, just as the table next to ours was commenting on the small portion sizes of their food. We should have complained but we were hungry, disappointed, tired and just wanted to leave and simply couldn't face the confrontation in the busy setting. No excuses but that's how it was. We are very relaxed easy going people but this was a truly disappointing meal and experience and we felt robbed of £45 instead of enjoying what we'd hoped would be a lovely Saturday night out and special occasion."
