really enjoyed the place and eating. the people are very friendly and speak English. can recommend to everyone to taste very traditional German food, beer and wine.

Janses Mattes sets the standards for quality of food, service, and long tradition with the nice location and rooms. This should definitely be the Numer 1 in the local area.

was back tonight. this is my4/5 visit . this is excellent. menus from all directions. old German dishes with a hauch of jugend from the kitchen. the location is in the middle of nowhere, but definitiw the drive and the time worth!. and a beautiful wine card and the prices are ok

Eat at Janses Mattes during a family celebration. We were so kindly received that I felt right away. I had the beef fillet steak and that was the most perfect steak I've ever eaten. With spinach and potatoes and this magnificent sauce (of which it could have been a spoon) it was a feast for the palate. The service, although underoccupied, always because if you need it and absolutely incompatible. Thanks to the whole team it was just wonderful and we come back. we were in this restaurant before dinner and we have never left this place insecure! since we had a small party to organize 35 people) we choose this restaurant as a supplier. during the incoming discussion with the staff about the possibilities. we were satisfied with the great selection of dishes/plates from which we could choose. also the set budget per person price has been adjusted. in a set: friendly staff, good advice, good food quality, timely delivery, nice presentation and great service (in or outside the restaurants). Go on!

We booked in for Sunday lunch and were a little concerned by the limited set menu choices. My husband and I ordered different meals and both of us were pleased with our choices which we found the food excellent. This is a restaurant that takes...its time in servicing you hence you must be prepared for a long relaxing afternoon. In all our dining experience lasted 2 1/2 hours but we would not have wanted it to be more rushed. We found the break between courses reasonable and necessary. There were no English menus available and our waitress had limited English however with the help of other customers she was able to explain our choices. It was Spargelzeit (Asparagus season) so we thought we'd try this restaurant since we know both German locals and Americans who rave about it. They seated us in the very back of the restaurant where we shared a table with a German couple. It took...nearly 45 minutes for a waitress to arrive to place our order and nearly 1.5 hours for us to receive it: Spargel mit Schinken, Spargel mit holländischer Sauce, and a kids meal of Brühwurst mit Pommes frites. We were there so long that the staff were putting away centerpieces and tablecloths while we were eating. To add insult to injury, it took our waitress even longer to come to the table so we can pay. I will NEVER recommend this place to anyone...

Janses Mattes. This restaurant is so famous that the inhabitants of the circle even call the intersection where the restaurant stands, only in Janses Mattes. The food and service were second to none. My husband was there about a year ago with some work colleagues. He told me that the bread that they served before the meal was some of the best that he had ever had... We decided to...go last night and I was looking forward to trying the bread..unfortunately they don't serve it anymore. Just an ordinary baguette type bread was served.
