"If you are looking to get the succulent, herb studded, crispy, lacquered skin Porchetta that Anthony Bourdain famously ate on the Rome episode of his travel show, THIS IS IT. My husband and I have intended or attempted to come here on several trips prior, with something always going wrong and preventing touch down. Well, we landed today and it was well worth the wait. Here are the key things to know about I Porchettoni: 1). They are no longer at the via del Pigneto location. Haven’t been for about 3 years. There is another restaurant at that address that serves Porchetta, but it is not I Porchettoni. 2) They are off the beaten path in the San Lorenzo neighborhood Is but well worth the cab ride. It cost us about 8 euro from central Rome. In spite of their non-central location, they were very friendly and welcoming to a couple of obvious tourists. 3) Porchetta!!! Soft meat, crunchy golden skin, herb infused meat goodness. We shared a plate as a starter and we just about stabbed each other for the last piece of crunchy skin. 4). Beer, wine and delicious pastas. There is a full menu of delicious food available at I Porchettoni. We visited on a Thursday and there was a gnocchi special with a meat flavored tomato sauce that was completely heavenly and a fettuccine dish with broccoli and pancetta that made me swoon. Just remember that Via Dei Marrucini 18c is the authentic location and then hop a cab, bus, Vespa, bicycle or skateboard and get some amazing food."

Ended up in this restaurant completely by chance, and that was one very lucky pick!! The food was absolutely top notch, a great example of the local cuisine and the service was great. I had a fantastic evening here.

Small cozy place with very polite staff and amazing food. We ordered a Carbonara and Fettuccini with mushrooms and they were both absolutely delicious! Also close to the Tiburtina station, so a good place to stop by if traveling to/from there.

We came for lunch based on recommendations. This is a restaurant that the locals come to and for good reason. The food is just really good. The ambiance is nice the service is good but we would make a point to go back for the food. It's a bit out of the way but very worth the trip!

Had a very nice meal a few days ago at I Porchettoni. We had their house speciality suckling pig along with a meat and cheese board to start. Our server recommended their house wine which was excellent as well. It was a little bit off the usual tourist path but well worth the walk to get there. We would definitely go back on our next trip to Rome.

A perfect spot! Tucked away, super cosy space. Friendly service and outstanding food. Ask the waiter for his recommendation and he will give you his honest opinion about taste and size of serving! Very good value for money. 2 starters, 2 mains, 2 desserts and 2 bottles of wine €60. And very good quality too! Would definitely return if we come back to Roma. Thank you!

My first time having porchetta and it was superb. Our first course of pasta I had a special with pork sausage and truffle fettuccini, s/o had pepper and pecorino pasta was delightful. Excellent balance of flavors, I found myself savoring every bite. Second course of sliced steak and arugula was tender, juicy, and perfectly spiced. Dessert of panna cotta and tiramisu was also fantastic. Staff was friendly and welcoming, we felt at home. We were only one of three tables that night, but it was epiphany so perhaps that's why? Overall, simply a wonderful experience.

I didn 't know this was a famous place that featured on TV, I just passed in the morning by and saw the picture of the roasted piglet in the window so I decided to come back in the evening. I had had only mediocre pochettas in the past so I wasn 't to keen on trying it again but since the restaurant had it in its name i was like why not? Good I did : Their porchetta was beautiful, a truly memorable experience, lovely tender meat and crispy skin with excellent flavouring. The other dishes we had (pasta and tripe were also proper good but cannot beat the porchetta. The waiters spoke English and were very attentive. The prices were not higher than anywhere else in the neighborhood. We were luck...

I discovered this on an Anthony Bourdain food travel programme. I had noted down a couple of places he recommended and made a point of seeking this one out as I do love pork. The day before I intended to go I was on the metro and noticed a story about him in someones paper. Allegedly he had committed suicide. I was shocked and saddened by this and made a double effort to eat there. Eating in restaurants as a single traveller can be a bit emotional but it was the least I could do. Arrived mid afternoon but they didn't open till evening. The waiter or owner was sitting outside. He suggested I come back after 6. I did and was greeted like an old friend with a hug!! Talk about make me feel welco...
