"First time with family from out of town. Trying out menu for a future booking. Fish Chips meal was rated 7/10 batter was over cooked, price gor quantity 15% Over. The Curry dish was rated 6/10 as Curry sauce was extremely spicy, regular eater of Asian food. Turkey Dinner rated 5/10. Was the Christmas Turkey Dinner offering??? To start; Carrots Parsnips hot but undercooked. White cabbage red wet cold. Turkey slices sadly tasteless. Roast potatoes hard in centre. Gravy in a small pot was just too glumpy, best way to describe. Biggest let downs!! NO BRUSSEL SPROUTS ! AND. THE WORST SIN OF THE MEAL!! NO CRANBERRY SAUCE!!! This was extremely upsetting! Waiter was informed and sadly no explanation was forthcoming from Kitchen! Why NO CRANBERRY SAUCE or Brussel Sprouts. As for pigs in blankets !! Well the 2 wee cocktail sausage size wouldn 't even make One !! another customer mentioned the above). Wine was over priced for this establishment. Its Pub Grub! Need to do better to have us try again."

The staff were nice and friendly but the food was very mediocre. We had burger, garlic prawns and a salad but although convenient, the quality was not very good

Stayed at the site for 4 nights. Drinks are expensive. Breakfast was really, really salty, so salty i couldn't finish it. The sausage was a bit tough. The rest of it was good, but as I've mentioned, the salt content was awful!

We have visited this restaurant multiple times over the years. The menu offers a wide variety of options to suit all tastes. The entertainment section has expanded and is now more grand and lively. It's a bit of a love it or hate it experience.

The people working here don’t seem to really care or give a s##t about their job. We waited an hour tonight before someone came over to ask if everything was ok, I replied “ not really as we are still waiting on food” they hadn’t even put our order through so we had to wait even longer on them cooking it! We got about £6 taken off our bill for this which was a joke! Wouldn’t go back! Voir le carte

Extremely displeased with the value for money and quality of the food. every meal that we ordered seemed to be covered with other little dishes to make the portions seem larger. One piece of chicken and about 8 chips for £12.50 definitely doesn’t justify good value for money. The restaurant itself was well presented. Staff didn’t seem happy to be at work and with this being my second poor experience here I feel 2/5 stars is justified.

Stayed at hunters quay 7th August for 7 nights, weather was great 25 degrees, nice sitting area outside with glass screening so we sat outside with very small dog at 5pm, went inside to order food to eat outside was told I cannot have main menu outside you can only have kids meals or snacks, if they are bring kids meals outside surly they can bring adult meals outside plus it would be safer to eat outside especially through the Covid 19 pandemic.

We had a lovely meal here on the Tuesday (took advantage of the eat out to help out) and enjoyed it so much we attempted to book again for the Wednesday however unfortunately it was already fully booked. The staff were really friendly and attentive we ate as a group of 7 and although we had a slightly extended wait all meals came out hot and together. Not one meal had anything negative, all different meals were extremely tasty and nice portion sizes. The menu had a really large choice of meals. Desserts were fantastic and very much enjoyed by the children, the discount made it all the more worthwhile. Would happily return even without the added discount. Voir le carte

While staying at Hunters Quay, Hunters Bar Grill was in our experience the best in the immediate (walkable) area and was a regular visit for us during the week as the kids loved the menu and the very warm and friendly staff. There’s enough variety in the menu to have dinner every night for a week (we almost did) and all of a high quality. Pricey (as noted in some reviews)? Maybe a little, but we enjoyed ourselves, and no-one forced us to plough through the menu, including the ‘Choccomania’ dessert which is a must! Like all resorts of this type, there’s pricing to suit a ‘captive audience’ but there’s a higher degree of service also, so I’d regard it as VFM none the less. 3 nights out of 5 sp...

Village is lovely but the Hunters bar and grill service is soo poor. We waited over 1hr 20min for our food and it was only us and one other couple in the restaurant! After waiting soo long for our food and no apology we left and asked for a coffee to takeaway. The girl behind the bar told us the coffee machine was switched off and we couldn’t have a coffee. What restaurant tells their customers they are open for service but can’t have a coffee because the machine is switched off?? What does that even mean? Do coffee machines have opening items? Or does it basically mean it’s 9:15pm and she couldn’t be bothered cleaning the coffee machine again? : during difficult times for the restaurant sec...

"On our last day here, killing time before the ferry, decided to try luncheon here. No expectations either way. And we were TOTALLY wowed it was just excellent. Trying not to put too many superlatives in this review, but it was really, really ace. We had a lovely table by the window overlooking the harbour where you could see dog walkers, children in wellies, crabbing, and little boats coming and going. Classic Islay. Then I have to mention the food. Jeez, it was top notch, and huuuuuuuge portions. I don’t think we’ve ever had four such consistently generous and fulfilling portions before. We had the scallops (massive, juicy, plentiful , the Crofter’s Platter, which was cheeses, hams, sausage rolls, salad, bread, chutneys; the soup massive bowl, loadsa crispy sourdough bread, and the fish and chips which was so big it draped over the plate! All delicious. Our guy, Andrew, was superb, so attentive and smiley and always bringing us more things, spoons, drinks, more bread, spoons, he was great. And we had a lovely chat with the very friendly and nice proprietor. She was wonderful. Really seemed to care about the place and her team. She told us all about the hotel and stuff it was really cool. We will most certainly come back here next time. You can’t necessarily get the best table every time, but we won’t mind if we don’t! : Oh, also, lovely clean loos!"
