"we have often been throwing past this lovely pub on the way to hungerford, but never really visited! as such we have booked a table for two in the last minute and a dog. a few hours later, and we were in the tally ho for our september 'date night' meal, with the dog! at the arrival the parking lot had a lot of space, and the owners loved dogs, so everything was good....The pub was busy with diners and drinkers who, for the night of the week, was very nice to see. the menu was traditional pub food, and there was also a special table. I went for the steak and my wife went for the sampi. BOOM!!!!...to conclude a local traditional English pub serving beautiful traditional cuisine, as they expect! good portions; many pages; fabulous aromen; real puddings; honest prizes. we were very impressed by the food and service too, so will definitely visit again!"

"When we arrived, the door was left open. There was a strong smell of urine at the entrance, likely due to the neon yellow stain in the bathroom. There was no air conditioning or mini fridge in the room. The bed was comfortable. The cocktails were overly sweet and watered down, with the gin drinks being the worst. The bartender argued that he followed the recipe, but refused to remake the drink when it was not to our liking. The service was rude all around, with a wait of over 20 minutes for a waitress to take our breakfast order, only to have the eggs cooked too hard. Overall, a disappointing experience."

"What a lovely pub with lovely people. They found a lovely spot for us and our dog in a little nook. We were made to feel very welcome and the landlord conversation and banter made us feel like we were locals. Pubs often say they...are dog friendly but simply allow dogs. This is not the case for the downgate. Our pooch was made to feel just as welcome and the treats she got from the landlord has ensured she would go again! Food was fantastic and portions huge. We had both the pork and beef. Thank you for a lovely Sunday lunch."

"I met up with a client for a business meeting at Eliane in Hungerford and was in awe of the amazing decor in the atrium section of this cafe. The panels of glass create a beautiful half in-half out' kind of vibe, making the whole dining experience incredibly relaxing! I didn't eat a big meal but I did have the homebaked bread with dips (vegan) and a SmooJu from the juice bar both were ample portion sizes and truly delicious and refreshing. Thank you Eliane, I will be back for sure."

"We stopped off in Hungerford on our canal boat holiday and had a lovely lunch at The Plume. A very warm welcome for the four of us and our dogs, Gertie Arthur. They are dog friendly and have a decent sized outdoor seating area. Really good service from both the ladies looking after us, very chatty and friendly and they made us feel extremely welcome. Treats for the dogs and we also got to meet 8 month-old Humphrey the Leonberger puppy (who was enormous and very tolerant of our barking dogs who were initially somewhat startled by his size) I highly recommend The Plume, great food and spot on in terms of customer care. Well done!"
