"A friend and I stopped at the Hotel zum Bären for dinner on a chilly May evening. No one was sitting outside, but many were sitting inside at the small number of tables there. The two of us were seated at a table where another couple was already dining. We smiled at the other couple, exchanged a "Guten Abend" with them, and had a seat. The regular and daily menus are in German, but an English translation is available for the regular menu. Our server was very attentive, but spoke only very limited English; I speak some German, so it worked out okay for us. The food was wonderful. Our asparagus cream soup was one of the best soups I have ever had. The salad was good-sized and had an excellent variety of vegetables in it. We both had fish entrees; these were excellent, too -- the asparagus risotto accompanying one of the dishes was heavenly. Our shared dessert consisted of a variety of berries topped with cream and ice cream. Dinner for 2 with a large bottle of mineral water (no alcohol) was 48 euro, but was well worth the price. The shared table was also a big plus. We enjoyed our conversation with the couple from Stuttgart that was also seated at our table."

Excellent meal. We enjoyed talking to Yvonne who helped us translate and made recommendations. The food and wine were all spot-on.

Went in for lunch with our small dog, we were seated at a large table, the menu was in German but we understood enough to order. Our main courses were generous portions, we also had a dessert which was lovely. Not an expensive restaurant, it is also a guesthouse. The owner / Chef came over and chatted to us in English, giving us a little history of this lovely town.

A bizarre title, but they had a whole box so I could pick a pair to read the menu. Otherwise in the darkish lighting no chance.Friendly helpful staff who would help me out with my dreadful German without making me feel silly. The food was okay, large portions. If you're not a big eater consider choosing the senior portion size.Limited outdoor seating, but plenty of room inside.

We couldn't get a table booking until 7.30pm on a Tuesday evening, so we thought he restaurant would be busy, but it wasn't full and as we arrived everyone else was leaving. It seems that visitors to Petersburg eat at 6 or 6. 30. We had fish and it was just served with potatoes and and, no other vegetables or sauce. It was OK, but we had better elsewhere and it lacked atmosphere . Voir le carte

The restaurant at the Hotel Baren (Zum Bären) serves up some of the best German regional food I've ever experienced and I've travelled and lived in Austria and Germany extensively. The house Maultashen are the best I've eaten anywhere and are heavenly. Food, ambiance, service, Gemütlichkeit, this is just an amazing place. So climb the hill, get out of the tourist places many have ranked over this amazing restaurant, and try some incredibly delicious local German food at Zum Bären.

My husband and I decided to have lunch at this establishment and we were not disappointed. It had been recommended to us by our hotel, The Viktoria. We chose the set menu which cost under 22 Euros. We began with the famous spargle (white asparagus) soup which was wonderful and creamy. Then we were give an abundant salad that we ate alongside our main meal which was delicious. For dessert we had forest fruits, ice-cream and cream that was delightful! Could hardly walk to our hotel 50 meters away as I was so full!

We visit the Baeren every year when we are in Meersburg for our autumn holiday. This time we were with friends from northern Germany, who agreed with us that the atmosphere and food are excellent. The young man who waits at table is friendly, and the kitchen always accommodates our daughter's fussy requests for food (no salad dressing, only certain vegetables and so on). The menu is varied and on our two visits this year we enjoyed farmer's omelette, deer stew, pork schnitzel, and fish dishes. Each dish comes with a generous and delicious salad to start. The dining room is very pretty, with panelling and wooden seats and a big ceramic stove. A German classic. Voir le carte

We spent the night in this fabulous little boutique hotel and decided to eat dinner there as well. We were delighted in every way! We had two different versions of the Feche (fish) which came fresh from the Bodensee that morning. It was tender and cooked to perfection. The salad was ample and the house dressing was perfectly balanced. The dessert was a glass flute filled with fresh berries and topped with ice cream. The wine was excellent. Not only was the dinner divine, the restaurant was cozy and warm on a cold night. There are only six tables, wrapped around a prominent "Kachelofen", several of which are used to accommodate two parties. It made for a very authentic experience and we met so...

I had lunch here. the waitress did not speak English, but she had an English menu. eating was on the better side of the average. some of the better food I had in meersburg. despite a language barrier, the waitress was attentive. the question came to...Paying this restaurant does not take credit cards. the restaurant is also part of a hotel. the hotel also does not take credit cards. the bank was closed (it was a weekday) and there were no exchange rates in the city despite the proximity to the Swiss. the chief owner allowed me to pay him in US dollars after manually calculating the dollar to euro exchange rate based on the time. I didn't disturb google because I just wanted to pay and go aft...
