"My partner and I dined at this restaurant last night. It was quite busy, but there were plenty of staff who were all very friendly. As someone who is gluten free, I often struggle to find a variety of options, but that was not the case here. I ordered the fish pie, which was packed with salmon, smoked haddock, cod, and king prawns, topped with mashed potatoes. It was served with petit pois and a delicious sauce. My partner chose the chicken, ham, and leek pie, which he really enjoyed. For dessert, I had the crème brûlée with gluten free shortcake biscuits, while my partner had the cherry pie. The meal was definitely worth the price. With a larger shandy and a glass of wine, we thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience. It is a place we would be happy to return to, even though it is not very close to our location. For those looking for gluten free options, this restaurant is a clear choice."

An excellent restaurant. Had a very good lunch and can recommend it. No particular downside. Prices were similar to other pubs and would recommend it. Will i return? Yes!

Brilliant evening on 22 June. Love the new additions to the menu too in particular the Padron peppers and the watermelon salad. Food was delicious (as always) both in taste and look, but have to say our evening was really made so lovely by the young man (Joe I believe) who was an absolute pleasure to be looked after by. Thank you for a lovely evening guys!

The young lady who served us was brilliant, very attentive to our requests and got the order perfect. The food was delicious, especially the chocolate and cherry tart! Good options for our 3 vegetarians too. Just one small piece of feedback on the veggie curry which could do with a bit more sauce to rice ratio. Very dog friendly too with a water bowl already placed at our table ahead of arrival. Thanks for a lovely evening! Voir le carte

Wonderful looking pub and great decor. We were served by a delightful waitress with a gorgeous smile, food was excellent...and not your normal pub grub, and although I never usually indulge in pudding, i simply couldn't resist the delicious selection on offer. A great cheese selection was sadly just too much for me...this time! I have no hesitation in recommending this little diamond, and hope to be back very soon. Thank you all for a fantastic lunch.

We had a fantastic time at the Horse and Groom. They were really accommodating of my friend and I and our two little babies. The food was delicious. I had a chicken burger and it’s the best I’ve had in a long time from a pub. They have a great selection of puddings and do this brilliant option of a half dessert with a hot drink perfect if you fancy something sweet but are pretty full up! The service was attentive, friendly and welcoming. We just generally had a lovely time. Will be back for sure!

My party of four arrived early for our reservation at the restaurant. The service was excellent and all of the staff were very friendly. However, we were not impressed with the Antipasto starter plate as it was very small and overpriced at £9.95. The fish pie was tasty but seemed to have been left under a heat lamp for too long, resulting in a skin forming on the sauce. Additionally, the garden peas appeared dried out. Despite these issues, I chose not to send the dish back. The fish and chips dish, priced at £17.95, was delicious although on the pricier side. Overall, we found the experience to be just okay for the price and we are not in a rush to return. Voir le carte

This charming country pub offers a wonderfully diverse menu with a cozy atmosphere, featuring wood paneling and sturdy tables. A welcoming fire greets patrons, along with friendly service. The Sweet potato coconut soup and Char Sui pork noodle soup were delicious starters, followed by a crispy beef salad and pork belly dish complete with watermelon, pak choy, snap pea salad, and crunchy pork skin garnish. The salad had a generous amount of beef, and the chocolate posset with pistachio ice cream was a delightful dessert. The staff was friendly, and the pub has a rear terrace and front garden tables. They offer a good selection of cask ales at fair prices, making it a reliable choice for a sat...

This was a lunchtime out with old friends, who had recommended this venue. The staff were helpful and friendly, without being overly intrusive. Our drinks were brought to us and placed on our table with care. Whilst we were chatting, totally unprompted, one of the staff members moved a fan so that it was pointing in our direction. They clearly had recognised that we were feeling the heat, and the cool breeze certainly helped. This was a very nice touch, which we all greatly appreciated. There was an excellent choice of starters, mains, and puddings on the menu. We all decided to have main meals and puddings. These were served in good time, and we were all impressed with the presentation and...

"Posting on behalf of PeterfromSandhurst, who was limited to only review per month. As I was of the people on this visit, I agree with everything that has been said and whole heartedly recommend the Lord Raglan for family visits. On to...the actual review. visit, this time with six people comprising three generations aged (that day) to almost We agreed that we would just keep ordering one or two plates every minute or so and share them so we could all eat the entire menu, a bit at a time. Over hours and plates of food later the results were in, we had eaten the menu! The clear favourite by show of hands (from the little ones and the ladies) was the sticky toffee pudding (no surprises there). Choosing favourites after that was very hard indeed as they were all good. The haddock was excellent with a close dense batter that was both light but substantial (don’t ask me how) and closely hugged the good sized piece of fish. It held heat well, tasted good (both batter and fish) and remained crisp until the last bite despite not rushing to eat it. The chicken (breast pieces in the sharing platter and the smoky spicy thighs dish) were also great. Moist, very tasty but the thighs a tad spicy/smoky for the children (the smoky hit is pretty instant for a kid) but the adults all loved them, the crunchy crusted breast fillets were loved by all. The ribs were moist, delicious, plentiful and fell apart simply by looking at them. The meat board (usually a shared starter) scored highly again with the juicy pork leek sausages beautifully finished with scorched crispy skin just like the very best BBQs can manage but still wonderfully moist inside. Pulled brisket very juicy, still not sure what they use instead of butter but it works perfectly. The Korean chicken burger with kimchi was a hit with my wife (she hadn’t had kimchi before) leaving a nice afterglow without any blast of heat. She just read this and said “The sausages were delicious, I really liked those, next time I go, I am going to have sausage and mash”. Well that’s her bit done. Oh, and by the way, it was steak day (every Thursday it seems), and the steaks come as a package with chips, a sauce choice and a drink (soft or wine etc) at discounted prices, so we had a few of those too. Ordered medium rib eyes, held our breath, and low and behold medium rib eyes arrived (well done chef! And eat your heart out Miller and Carter). So if you are sick to death of places that can’t cook a steak properly, try here. I hadn’t eaten Mac and cheese for years but tried that too and found the cheese was great, had a real intense depth of flavour and lovely grilled crusty edges (that you pick out of your teeth for the next minutes mmmm). If you have the time to spend a few hours mid week with people you love in a quirky but relaxed atmosphere you could do worse than try this tasting menu approach to culinary socialising. The Staff could not have been more accommodating, despite the unconventional nature of our visit. Thank you Beth and Leah, you did an excellent job. I made a couple of remarks on my first visit about how I might improve things if I was permitted to stick my oar in and again. Bang, they had been implemented just two days later. Amazing stuff Lily (boss), you are a star. Any kitchen that consistently turns out dish after dish like this one does, has something going right. See you again soon."
