"What can I say I have known chef Sean Jeffers since he was 16 washing up in our yacht club kitchen, he has gone leaps and ,bounds and beyond ,he and his team smashed it out the park tonight absolutely delicious food and great service .started with some snacks some beautiful parmesan, truffle ,onion jam doughnuts WOW,fresh crisp ,soft focaccia. Then came the starter slow cooked IOW beef crumpet ,onion jam horseradish parsley emulsion, stunning, for main I had the baked cod ,fish mouse tortellini, keta, leek jus , smoked bacon and for me the showstopper pickled mussels BEAUTIFUL...... The place to be ,the place to go the unforgettable Red lion of Freshwater 5 stars"

"A mixed bag here to be honest. This is an expensive restaurant and should be a fab experience. The food was good, especially the meats, with unlimited fries and salad. I do think the Steaks at approx £30 each are expensive. The experience of cooking your own is great, but where this place lets itself down is the service and cost. If they are offering unlimited item like fries and salads, they should be regularly checking with you to see if you require more. It felt like they kept away from the table so we didn’t ask for more. Secondly and my biggest issue is it costs £11 (yes eleven) for Halloumi. I knew it was £11 but expected enough to cover all guests. It was a measly 4 small slices that shouldn’t have cost more than £3. Don’t buy the sides, it’s crazy money. So overall 3 stars and could easily be 4-5 stars if it didn’t feel like you were being taken for a ride with the prices and if the staff were more attentive. I guess they have the yachting set as a key customer group so they are pricing it accordingly. With the cost of living crisis, this means lots of us won’t go or go again. Total bill for 6, nearly £300. Think we can do better for cheaper elsewhere next time."

"I love our experience with The Cow restaurant., Theres about 20-26 people in our group and only half have manage to book a table but the lady at the reception and the serving girl had accomodatrd us and help us get situated . The food is lovely, my hubby and I shared a roast dinner , because we had late hotel breakfast and our son had the smoke burger, Even though we are not really hungry we just want to try the place as we are going back to Essex that afternoon , a friend of mine highly recommended the place and it doesnt disappoint. I would love to come back whenever i am in the area. Will gladly recommend. ????"

"Just had lunch at the Terrace today with some good friends. We were booked on a table outside on the terrace as we have a dog. I, was phoned by the restaurant yesterday and asked if we would be happy to move to a table indoors as the weather was looking as though it might be raining. I reminded them that we would have our dog with us, but they said, if the dog was well behaved we could bring him indoors too. So we had a table in the restaurant, the weather today did turn out to be rather thundery, and wet. We arrived and were shown to the table and were offered water for our dog. The menu was really good with a great selection of seafood, meat and vegetarian and vegan options. My wife and I chose scallops for a starter, which were delicious, our friends had pâté and crispy Cauliflower fritters. We all also chose different main courses, Pork steak with black pudding on a bed of parsley mash for me, sea bass with smashed new potatoes with crab meat for my wife, baked cod and a mushroom and truffle risotto for our friends. We all enjoyed our food, which was beautifully presented. The waiting staff were very friendly and helpful. Too full for a desert we all had coffee to finish. The bill when it came was very reasonable. We will definitely go back again."

"I went in hoping to enjoy some traditional fish and chips, but the menu had a lot more to offer! I ordered the curried pumpkin and coconut soup, followed by griddled garlic mackerel with chips and salad. Both dishes were fantastic! On top of that, the warm and friendly welcome made it a truly delightful experience. This place is definitely a hidden gem and worth visiting… more than once!"
