I'm not sure why there are so many negative reviews. The staff promptly seated us and took our orders. The prices may be a bit high for the portion size, especially compared to a regular chip shop takeaway, but the batter was light and not oily, and the chips were cooked perfectly.

A really good place to go for lunch or just a brew, really helpful staff and the meal was perfect. The fish and chips were really good and that's something coming from a Blackpool last to say the least. The gentleman who took our order and brought the meals to the table was very friendly. We had a very nice conversation and a laugh also. An all round pleasant experience

We ordered fish and chips, peas with bread and butter, and a pot of tea. It cost £11.25 per person. We were seated promptly and our tea was served with bread and butter soon after. Although we had to wait about 10 minutes for our food, it was well worth it. The fish and chips were the best I've had in years, with a light batter and perfect chips. This is a hidden gem away from the tourist hustle and bustle of Whitby. The couple who run it are friendly and helpful and the food very good quality at excellent prices. Most place today you just about get change from £10 for 2 hot drinks but here You get a little change from £5 for a tea and a coffee, both of which are good quality. The breakfasts are a good price, good quality and generous.

The customer service at this restaurant was terrible, as was the food. The chips tasted like cardboard, the fish didn't seem to be cod, and the coffee was more like a bitter espresso in a tiny mug. Despite the advertised closing time of 10pm, the staff closed the cafe at 3pm, only half an hour after we arrived. They even turned away other customers, as they were waiting for us to leave so they could go to the pub. They were overheard saying they couldn't wait for us to finish our food so they could leave early. Overall, it was a bad experience and I will not be returning. I will even warn others not to visit this establishment when I am in Whitby again. It's time for this business to get the...

after a lot of good reviews and recommendations, the experience here was awful and i left feeling as if i shouldn't have bothered at all. It wasn't busy at all and there was really no excuse for the lack of service or care that came from the staff. we were sat down and then left for 10 minuets before ordering a drink, think we were forgotten but we ordered drinks and food at the same time. when the plates came out the food was hot and looked nice except there were no peas. we were then told that they didn't have any peas. nice to have known. the chips were burnt and tasteless, just looked like they had been recooked from the day before to be honest. there was no check back and nobody to talk...
