"The Fischauktionshalle is a restored Victorian market hall, and features cast iron columns and riveted ironwork. For the last 40 years it's been a venue in its own right, hosting many events, both public and private. BUT Sunday morning, all year round, is undoubtedly the best. From 5:30 am until 12:00 midday, its music, beer and food all the way. April to October there are two stages in operation and two bands play an hour each, in turn.Usually good rock and dance music. Winter time, its one stage, one band and a later start. Breakfast is an assortment from a catering wagon, fried fish, fried potatoes, fish and prawn rolls, all of it freshly made and well-portioned. Tea, coffee and hot chocolate available from another trailer, as is beer, wine and shots. Why catering in trailers? because the hall is still liable to flooding in the winter! Alternatively the organisers run a full breakfast & brunch buffet, with seating on the balconies, but this is chargeable. Entrance to the hall is free, atmosphere is amazing. People so friendly. Great way to kickstart your Sunday in Hamburg, visit the market and then into the hall for breakfast & music."

we shared the plate - it is huge and delicious, and I loved the atmosphere (as in a cave). bier was also great. the personal was not particularly friendly, but apparently this is a hamburger thing. has not disturbed us!

Your visit can be short, but you can not help but admire this building. Every sunday (come early) the fishmarket is still here and you can get inside. But it is also nice from the outside and beautifully located on the Elbe river. Sometimes the building us used for congresses etc.

We ventured in here on our day trip round the port during the festival last Saturday and the inside of this building blew me away. The internal design of the cast iron platforms that scale the walls are incredible to look at! Also the hall had great acoustics so the live music was perfect.

I was here a few years ago and just came back - great new things: nothing changed! great meat dishes and great beers ... the place looks like an underground cellar ... it has an uncomplicated atmosphere and here everything turns out to enjoy. the roastbeef is incredible and so are the sausages. what an incredible tempo!

this is a great hidden place, very quiet, definitiw away from the exited paths. the menu and the order are somewhat confusing as non-German speakers, but eating was very good (the menu is however extremely limited, at least for lunch). the ambiente and the atmosphere were cozy and very old-fashioned. good selection of groninger beer.

Beautiful Building still being used for functions in an area that has been restored to make it very tourist friendly.Love walking outside and watching all the activity on the river, with the ferries/river buses coming and going, the activity in the dry dock and container terminals opposite and the occasional cruise ship passing by.Some good restaurants and cafes close by.

Wow what a way to spend a Sunday morning - Deep Purple, Mustang Sally, Status Quo played by a live rock band, a fish cake sandwich, beer and a bouncing atmosphere definitely a must if youre in Hamburg for a weekend even having to get out of bed early - place is jumping though so worth getting down early 7.30ish -maybe even stay out all night it's 5 mins from the Reeperbahn!!!
