they enjoy a great meal sitting on the golden ship outside on the beautiful small square. the carving was excellent. good value for money too.

we liked this restaurant, the personal, the atmosphere and the meals were so beautifully prepared. many natives are always a good sign. so our two visits were both events that we appreciated and will be very happy to remember.

in whole bayern and safe in passau you will find many restaurants that offer porosity, serviette dumplings, sour wort or some other typical German foods. in the golden ship they serve bio Bavarian cuisine. very tasty and all this to fair trips. the personal is friendly, what. is not the general impression we received from the restaurants and caffes of passau. We couldn't find any suitable open restaurant the evening we arrived everything seemed to be closed already, we checked the goldenes schiff and found a warm welcome with traditional bavarian food. since I am a vegetarian there where not to many options but i found...something and my wife and son where also quite happy. the star was super friendly and i would recommend everyone to try this place.

Very happy we found this “hidden gem” off the beaten track in Passau. It is tucked away on a side street, off of a main shopping area. We had a very enjoyable dinner. The menu had Bavarian dishes as well some with a Mediterranean flair....The food was very good. Also the ambiance in the restaurant’s cozy Gastgarten was comfortable, family oriented, relaxed not touristy. If you want to go “local” in Passau, Goldenes Schiffe has our high recommendation.

We recently went on a Viking Danube river cruise. On a stop in Passau, we asked our guide for a recommendation for lunch in the Old Town. She recommended this restaurant and we are glad she did. They had a great variety of German dishes...and also great salads that would work for my wife who has to eat gluten-free. The portions were large (could probably be shared if you are not a big eater) and the beer was good! They do not take credit cards, though, so have your Euros ready. Voir le carte

Stumbled in on an early evening quest for food with a family of four and no reservation. Nevertheless we were warmly welcomed and got a table within five minutes of our arrival. The menu is diverse and has a selection of traditional and international dishes,...including a number of vegetarian options and meals tailored for children. Prices are moderate, but good value for money. With a number of books availale for (small) children and very (child friendly staff, this restaurant deserves a recommendation for those looking for food in Passau.

The Goldenes Schiff can be found on an alleyway leading from the Dom to the River Inn in old Passau. It has traditional Bavarian dining rooms but there is a wonderful beer/eating garden in the rear and tables are set out front on the wide...pavement. The food is real Bavarian stock cooked in the slow food' tradition of intelligent sustainability with the freshest foods. The restaurant has received a national Slow Foods' award. On busy nights, reservations are a must. Be prepared to wait as many of the dishes are individually prepared. This is particularly so on popular nights. The Goldenes Schiff is very popular with locals.

I asked a local outside the St. Stephen’s Cathedral for the name of a restaurant that served traditional Bavarian food. We decided to try it and was not disappointed. There is seating indoors and outdoors. Every day there is a special for Euros per...person. We went for the specials which included a salad with green beans and potatoes and fried potato sticks with sauerkraut. Both were very good. We also sampled the local beer. This restaurant was damaged heavily during the floods but has been rebuilt. Attached to the restaurant is a pension (hotel) that can accommodate up to twenty people in its seven rooms. The restaurant is within walking distance from the cathedral. Voir le carte
