The food was great. The service staff was very attentive. The beer garden with playhouse and sandbox for the small guests a highlight. Come back when you're Kevelear.

We come across this superb restaurant by mistake! So glad we did. The surrounding we're typical old German, very clean lovely furniture, the food was amazing, but make sure you don't go later than 9pm as they stop cooking . Voir le carte

We visited this place for the first time even visiting Kevelaer many times.The interior is classic and gives you good filling and view.The place is very clean and the staff is very friendly.We ordered Rumpsteak Krauterbuter and Heringstipp.Both were delicious. Steak was made out of fresh meat and was fried just enough.We will definitely come back.

This was the highest ranked restaurant in Kevelaer on TripAdvisor that was open on a Monday night, so we expected quality. We got it - nothing outstanding but good solid service, very good food and decent prices. I had the chef's fish platter which comprised an enormous lump of salmon, 2 sole and half a dozen prawns, plus a bowl of potatoes and a tomato salad - not bad for €18. The schnitzels also seemed to go down very well. This is indeed a very good restaurant worthy of its high ranking.

One of the best restaurants in the area. It wasn't often there, but it's true from the front to the back. Super delicious, well prepared food, of good quality. The decor is beautiful, fits perfectly with the cityscape. Prices are adapted to quality, not too expensive, but a fair price class for what comes on the plate. Eating is very fast, even if it's full. Also the staff is very friendly, speaks only often too directly in the table discussions of the guests. We tried here as they had a couple of vegetarian options on the menu. The place was very nice inside, with waitresses dressed in traditional-type costume. Our waitress was very friendly and when we checked one of the dishes was vegetarian, she pointed out other dishes that were also vegetarian and recommended a lasagne. We had the potato pockets with cheese and broccoli and a vegetarian lasgane. There was also a lovely side salad with the potato pockets. We thought the food was delicious.We tried to pay by card which was maestro and should have worked, but for some reason the card machine wouldn't accept it, so just be careful that a card might be declined and you might need to pay cash. When you get to this restaurant you do expect it to be excellent. It's in a prominent place, it has decent ratings and it's full of older people.First thing that wasn't as good as it should be, it took ages until someone decided to serve us. Ok, we could get over that. German beer usually resolves issues.We had a nice beer with our food but the food itself was not up to scratch. Not sure if this restaurants chef is fully versed on venison but it certainly was a bit amateur. That should have been better, not that it was terrible, it was just average and could have done with more TLC.What got us at the end is that even if you tip nicely, there is no thank you said. We are visitors from England and usually stay in Kevelaer about once a year always paying a visit to the Goldener Swan as we have found it so good.This year was a little more problematic as my wife has developed a serious food intolorance to anything the slightest citrus. We chose a venison casserole and asked the waiter to check with the chef that there was nothing in the meal that could be problematic and he returned a couple of minutes later with a sheaf of paper re-assuring us that there were no ingredients that could cause a problem.
