Called in for a roast beef dinner. Food was lovely, good price and portion size. The lady serving us was really friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Would recommend!

Just popped in for a quick cup of tea. A simple yet effective hot drink, served in a sparkly clean cup, with a free doughnut! What a gorgeous place it is! Very cosy inside and homely. I'd love to come back and try the food. Voir le carte

My husband and I called in for our Sunday lunch and feel we have been totally ripped off. £15.95 for some beef which seemed to be processed) 3 soggy roast potatoes ,peas and carrots, ohh and a yorkshire pud.,im sure there will be plenty of other places in beautiful York that will do a decent lunch for that price . Terrible just terrible

Well came to York Xmas market! Watched a YouTuber bypass this place as was too expensive!! Tell ya what? Missed a really good treat and quality food!! Omg it’s a lovely place to eat!! Mrs don’t eat it all if it’s horrible food! But she finished it all!! Job top and keep up the good food cooking!! Chef spot on and staff so friendly and down to earth!!

We ate at this restaurant while visiting York. We got a table upstairs, our food arrived very quickly and it was very hot and fresh. The fish was good and you got lots of chips with your meal. The staff were very friendly and it was reasonably priced. It has very old black and white decor in there, it actually feels quite wonky going up the stairs and on the top level. Voir le carte

Don’t waste your money. When I ordered fried whitebait I imagined nice fish and chips, little did I know I would get 14 small fried sarnies without any chips, I asked for a portion of chips only to be charged £5 for around 15 chips. Steak and kidney pie didn’t come with veg or chips, again asked for chips (thinking it was going to come with chips as states the menu) but no, another £5 for chips. Tea was £4 each, for hot water and a tea bag. Ridiculous. Don’t waste your money, go somewhere else. Waste of my time.

Absolutely disgusting food terrible very small portions chose a beef roast all fat cold and tiny selection of veg with 2 tiny potatoes..and friend chose fish and chips with the portion the size of a fish finger with which we counted 6 chips ! Wouldn't mind but for the price they charge ! But more important was the angry man behind the bar ..horrible welcome rude and once we told him about the food was shouted at ! And told to leave very rude obnoxious man demanding he'd been in business 25 years I wished him good luck with service like that Avoid at all costs unless you want terrible food and rude service

I took the wife, daughter and 2 grandchildren here, the only reason I have scored this a 2 instead of a 1 is because I did enjoy my meal but it was nearly 18 for liver and onions and chips so it wasn’t cheap, however as for the rest it leaves a lot to be desired my wife had a jacket potato with tuna the menu stated it came with a side salad, I’ve never in all my life seen a side salad that small I would have been embarrassed to serve that and call it a side salad (it wouldn’t fill the hole in a doughnut) and charge over £10 for it, there is no childrens menu but they did offer a smaller portion but my grandchildren wanted a burger one grandchild is dairy intolerant so I asked if I could get...
