"Visited cafe on Thursday 9/6/2022 during trip to Millport. Ordered Morrocan Chickpea Soup, two toasted cheese and pickle baquettes, tea and coffee and a bowl of water for my dog. Whilst placing my order I had to repeat my request due to the person taking my order not knowing what chutney/pickle was. When food came the soup was bland albeit edible. The baquettes were served cold and contained ham. As vegetarians we requested these be exchanged. Apologies were given by another staff member (who stated they were also vegetarian). I apologise if I offended the original person taking my order due to the disgruntled and angry manner with which I was met when she passed my table. Without making or passing judgement I assume it was due to the mix-up in her transmission of my order or regarding my request that the dirty water in the dog bowl be changed. Very disappointed by my experience in the Garrison Cafe."

Thanks for a lovely lunch today. Despite being extremely busy, you continued with your normal friendly efficient service. Your waiter today was great, friendly but very efficient at the same time.

Beautiful grounds with courtyard which is dog friendly. Lots options for gluten free etc. Coffee excellent and staff efficient! Homemade scones and corniche ice cream very nice. Fairly priced. Would def return

As an ex-Customs Officer I was interested to learn that Millport owes its origins in the 1700s to the people who attempted to smuggle contraband into the Clyde and to those who tried to stop them. Garrison House was built in 1745 as the residence...

I have visited Cumbrae 4 times over the last 6 years and each time I have called in for tea and cake or snack/lunch. Each time I have found the staff to be very friendly, the whole place spotless, the food tasty and teapots that hold a decent quantity.

After finding this cafe on a previous visit, when we come to Millport, we always come back for lunch. Lovely and clean, friendly service and lots to choose from soup, sandwiches, baguettes, breakfasts, cakes something for everyone. You can sit inside or outside in the courtyard. Highly recommended

A special hidden place can be found in Millport.Cambrai island is ten minutes on ferry and a further five on bus gets you to Millport.Behind the Garrison Museum is this delightful cafe. All manner of light snacks and meals are offered at decent prices.Outside areas are set with spaced out tables in a court yard.A good place to rest on such a quiet island resort.

What a surprise to find this cafe. We had planned to visit the museum, but it was closed. We stayed for a cup of hot chocolate and a sweet. After exploring more of the island, we returned for lunch. There were lots of healthy choices on the menu. We had some lovely soup and ended with ice cream. The friendly staff also helped with directions to a well-hidden cemetery. What a welcome change from fish n chips!

Can’t praise the Garrison cafe highly enough. I was in with my two boys and they were very busy. Our food was taking a while to come out but I was in no hurry. The manager came came out and apologised and brought me a fresh hot coffee moments before our food arrived. The soup and rolls and sausage well lovely. Proper good old fashioned homemade soup. Will definitely be back next time we’re in Millport. Well worth a visit and prices are reasonable. Thank you

"Magic sea. we went about 6 months ago after fins had threatened for years. that was worth waiting for us to arrive a little early before they had changed the prices on the boards, that was lucky because they had the decision to offer us the meal times at the price at the arrival, result. to every way back to the foods that the woman had the scalopps and black pudding and I had the langoustines. I was a little confused by the cutlery laid in front of me, pliers and a funny fork, but it was good when I asked the waitress what I should do with it and she showed me pretty happy. the scallops were amazing and it was that really beautiful black pudding so a great start for them. what had done me well, I had never eaten longoustine before, but I had to go right in and it was a great experience and the taste was just beautiful. large mmmm in our bauch. the most important courses were turbot for me and the missus chose the sea bass. the food was beautifully presented and it was smaller that I thought it was, but I had never eaten somewhere in that posh before. Anyway, both can have beautiful vegien and we both came into them and we were not dissappointed it was perfectly cooked. the turbot was the softest spruce I've ever had and the taste was amazing. the sea bass came with I think noodles and she loved it. everything was beautiful and relaxed and none of the unem emphasized that you sometimes find when you can be a little bit on yourself in the leading restaurants, but here it was not at all. about all this was a nice place to eat, a wee bit expensive but they get great service and beautiful environment. dylan"
