"Travelled from suffolk to meet up with some friends from London and to have a meal, meet up was great but the meal was really poor,6 roast dinners and all totally bland,no taste whatsoever then ordered 6 deserts which took almost 40 mins for them to turn up,asked the waiter how long they were going to be at one point and were told that the chef was really busy and it was tough....4 of the deserts were Eton mess which when they turned up were a joke, more like ice cream and cream, the waitress did not charge for the deserts which was a help but sadly to say we wont be returning. The manager never even apologised as we walked past him and went to sit in the beer garden.....nice pub but sadly the food lets it down."

It was my first time Five Bells. My friends were hosting the quiz there that evening. We were greeted with a smile and were immediately taken to our table in the area where the quiz was. Few things on the menu aren't available but that didn't matter. We picked fish and chips. This was a good choice, such big portions. Really lovely food and the service was quick and super friendly. Price per person: £10–20

Have always loved Five Bells, whole family do but went for lunch today and was our first poor experience there. Handed a list of all the food not available, the sandwiches we had were a mess and couldn't hear ourselves over the music blasting out of the kitchen (I think it was techno, possibly rave). The staff could obviously hear it but did nothing about it until we mentioned it at the end of the meal, then it went quiet Food: 3 Voir le carte

We had a Sunday Roast today only thing on the menu. Food was tasteless flooded in gravy worst meal I have ever had to experience. Told them we were not happy to then be told sorry our chef quite yesterday and this is a temp chef.and they were in a mess. What they should have done is notified all bookings and not served food and apologise until they had things sorted. Will never be going Back there again under new management. Food: 1

After reading good reviews after the pub changed hands we decided to book for my daughters birthday. The food was mediocre at best and overpriced. The Sunday roast was swimming in gravey. Some people my like that but not everyone does. The vegetables were ok just. They didn't have all the items on the desert menu and the amount of custard that came with the sticky toffee pudding barely covered it. On a positive note the pizza was freshly prepared and had plenty of cheese on it. We went at 1pm on a Sunday expecting the place to be full and we were the only diners. Sorry to say we won't be going back.

"We came here on a last minute hunt to find a Sunday roast with family without much expectations. However when entering its a lovely set up and we were greeted by Lee and Alison who looked after us for the meal who just to begin were absolutely brilliant, they really care about the customers and make this place extra special. Now for the food you can get a 2 or 3 course meal so everybody made various selections but all had starters. Most went for the Aarancina which isn't your usual starter with a Sunday roast but for here it packs alot of flavour and is a great way to start the meal. They have a great selection of alcoholic beverages I went for a simple beer. For the main roasts we had a variety of meats I wanted the pork but sadly they had no crackling which was half the reason for ordering but if I am being honest after eating the meal it wasn't missed out the meat was tasty full of flavour but the sides were the key. The roast potatoes were of a top level usually when you eat out they are never as good as eating at home, the Yorkshire were huge and tasty, gravy brilliant with plenty to go around and lots of veg and cauliflower cheese on the side. Honestly this was excellent a really good roast probably the best I have ever ate in a resteraunt. Some of the others had the lamb shank which was huge and had great feedback but the beef was great and so was everything else. So yes check it out eat in and eat some great food in a nice setting with absolutely brilliant service you won't be disappointed."
