"only wow. eating is in the price class at about 40-50 chf, but I don't think there were many paints where it was worth more. eating was pure art. it was delicious, no one dish even had a part of it not perfect. we had kewitsche, which was beautiful and sour, but with exactly the right amount of seasoning, a lamb ankle, which literally fell from the bone and lechon (porklet) with a creamy maische kartoffel made out of dreams. they commission the lechon. the service despite not great in English tried so hard to accommodate us, it was amazing. and please order a Pisco acid. the bartender really knows his things."

one of the few Peruvian restaurants throughout the city. beautiful personal and ok decor, very spacious and chill. eating is beautiful and quite authentic. a bit pricy about 50 pp so not her casual dining room, I would say, but good part.

"Au Charbon is family managed restaurant, set in a pleasant and quiet part of Lausanne, easily reached on the bus, if like me, you are touring. The restaurant is ‘cosy’ and the owners have maximised the number of seats available, which sounds like me...spinning a cramped venue but it actually works out okay. We had sufficient room to relax and eat without imposing on our neighbouring tables, so the efficient spacing added to the atmosphere and the wine waiter added character. The restaurant has a traditional pizzeria menu with no surprises with the choice of pizza, steaks etc. All our choices were well presented, cooked exactly to request and delicious. Portion sizes were just right too On the down side, the table service was very slow, it took around an hour for the first course and one dish was wrong when it eventually arrived but we put that down to being busy. The lady serving was also a bit too presumptuous that the change from the bill would be her tip and she didn’t return the change, eventually coming back to confirm if this was so. In summary, I enjoyed my meal and time at Au Charbon, they seem to have earned their reputation from being consistent in serving nicely presented dishes that are cooked well. The higher end options are a bit on the pricey side if you are on holiday, especially when considering this is a pizzeria (a steak costing CHF). However most restaurants of this type in Lausanne are similarly priced and it is what it is."
