Don Luigi - Menu

Heading Downhill. Originally a nice little Italian when it opened some ago however, the menu has failed to change during that time (still being handed out as cheap laminated paper). The prices have increased and the portion sizes have gone down. A restaurant that was once strong and thriving seems to be run now by a bloke trying to scrape every penny he can from every aspect of business, including not tipping his staff. I cannot recommend this as an enjoyable dinner experience.

not good. I had gone to this restorator for years ago as a young man and loved him. the pizza was fresh, the sauces also and the atmosphere excellent. However, the Italian/Spanish duo have aged, but their menu is the same, the pizza is bad and reminds me of super market purchased. the risotto was made with long defenses and the prices were high for a small restorer, especially since it is not authentic I probably do not go again, as eating is now poor, the service was terrible and the prices high. pizza hat is more authentic.

they need to eat in don luigis if they want to park on lodge drive parking. first, I can point out that there is a sign of lodge drive that parking for lodge drive customers only says' we wanted to use the cash machine in barclays on lodge drive! in hrs on Saturday night I parked on lodge drive on the parking lot to go to barclays to use the money machine. when approaching barclays I realized that the cash machine was no longer there, it had been missed. my friend went to sainsbury's money machine while waiting for a bank near barclays. returning to the car (in about minutes, at most) these two old youngs, which obviously are...read more

a disappointing visit in December as part of a big party. there were problems that arise during food service, but some of the main points were that the Risotto dishes were not from traditional short chalk arborio rice, but a rice that looked like basmati. this made the dish dry and lacked in any texture. we agree with previous reviews that the manager was rude and both the staff and the customers were abrupt (a very brief announcement that our table was needed for the next session was a good example). the bill that was placed on our table at the end of the meal was unencryptable hand written and lacked in any kind of breakdown that led us to feel...read more

Response to the Don Luigi comment. My family and I have been going to Don Luigi for years. It is THE FINEST RESTAURANT in the country. You could not wish to be served by a better manager anywhere else. He is a natural with EVERY single customer, and this bears out by the fact that his customer base has remained loyal since it was first opened The food is absolutely superb, you can order stuff that even ISNT on the menu. The atmosphere makes the eating experience EVEN BETTER. Eddie. I love Don Luigi's, have been going since day one, the atmosphere is great and the food is brilliant the service is second to none, great for family occasions for old and young casual or a romantic evening. Never again !. It's not very often that I feel compelled to join a forum to voice a complaint but I was intrigued to see if the good people of Culcheth are tolerant of the low standards that we experienced this weekend We had booked a table for adults and the wine and conversation was flowing. Starters were ordered (really overpriced and despite observing the burly manager belittling his staff on a regular basis all was well . Not good. The Pizza my partner had seemed ok, I ordered pate from the menu, which looked and tasted like slabs' from ASDA and was presented with toasted slices of mothers Pride' I then made the mistake of ordering Fillet Steak, which at was not worth the money. It was very dry. The Diane sauce was slopped over everthing before being server, it looked and tasted like a conjealed mix of bisto' and white wine. the vedges were grey, tepid- slopped over with suce and had the appearance of a third time reheat- I left them and didnt have the energy to compain. Accurate Review..... Please take note of this review as it is comes from someone who actualy has taste! The relaxed setting and attentive service provided by Joe and his team at Don Luigi makes for a fantastic place to dine whether as a couple or with a group of friends. The decor and furnishings are simple but very typical of a restaurant that could be found tucked away in an Italien side street. I have been to many Italien restaurants in the NorthWest and consider this to be one of the best. The restaurant is always bustling and on numerous visits I have seen people queing for tables instead of going to the other Italien restaurant next door which usualy has many tables spare.....please......
