"Amazing estate however the hotel was a little disappointing. We were initially given room 37 , it 's a little tired and the bathroom was dirty and flooded, the shower trap was disgusting and clogged with hair and dirt, it had never been cleaned. We were moved to a better room, but the bathrooms need updating and the carpets need cleaning. We had a table booked in the onsite pub the food was really good no complaints there, they serve great quality local ingredients and local ales. However the snug was freezing, they really need better heating. We will be returning, but will make sure when we book that we are given one of their better rooms. Overall an absolutely amazing venue, just needs a decent general manager to oversee a few issues."

Wish I’d read the reviews about car parking before I went! Bought a ticket through Travelzoo who said there was 3 hours free parking! Wrong!

Beautiful old buildings. There is an admission charge for the gardens. Cafe and bar available. Toilets outside. Gallery, cinema and arts venue. Plentiful parking. Payment by app.

do not park here. you will be pursued by rogue parking company and debt collectors forever regardless of whether you purchased a ticket or not. Oh and the gardens really isn't worth spending money to walk around. It used to be free! #capitalism Voir le carte

I recently attended a company workshop at this restaurant. The location is stunning and has a lot of charm. The rooms are of a high quality, the evening meal was delicious, and there were plenty of options for breakfast. I wish I had more time to explore the estate further! I would rate the rooms a 5, service a 4, and location a 5.

In an effort to minimise the time spent in the morose, gloomy hostel I sought refuge in the coffee shop. I was the only customer. After wondering what on earth was taking so long for my coffee to arrive, I discovered it had been sat on the counter for me to collect and was now cold. The girl serving had decided that staring into her phone was a more urgent task than delivering a drink to the only customer in the room. Rooms: 1

Attended a course in the grounds at Dartington. Course was great, grounds were fantastic. Paid £6 for parking and the parking provider Total Parking Solutions i.e. the agent of the trust decided i was to have a fine from 2pm ish even though i had paid for parking from 9am when i arrived in the morning. Trust uninterested, TPS crooks and myself weighing up wether i have the capacity or the money to fight it. Shocker from the site and the crooks they employ to manage their car parks. Voir le carte

Avoid parking at this restaurant at all costs! Numerous people have warned about the possibility of receiving a hefty fine if you do so, and you will ultimately be responsible for it. I mistakenly used the wrong Ring Go code for the Cider Press and now I have to pay a ridiculous £145 fee (which I suspect may be a scam). It doesn't come as a surprise though, as the restaurant seemed to be in need of money due to the lack of visitors, particularly in the overly pretentious and expensive cafes. Save yourself the trouble and go to a different restaurant for a more enjoyable experience.

I used to be a regular visitor to this restaurant, but I can no longer do so without receiving aggressive letters from unscrupulous solicitors demanding large sums of money for alleged parking violations dating back several years. I am currently disputing these charges and have reached out to the staff at Dartington, but they do not seem interested in helping or addressing the issue of this firm bullying their customers. It is disappointing to see this once community-oriented place become so corporate and profit-driven, with little regard for their patrons. The atmosphere of support for local artists and businesses that once existed here seems to have been lost.

"The positive is that the food is good. But the negative is the service time and the attitude of the staff. We were seated and had our order taken after 20 minutes. A little slow but it was a busy Saturday evening so understandable. Starters came promptly and were eaten. We then got ignored by every passing member of staff for at least 50 minutes. Quite the skill! Once there was a break in our conversation and I realised how long it had been, I stood up to intercept a waitress and asked “are our mains on the way, please?” Our ticket was checked by her at the kitchen hatch and we were told “yes”. At this point our starter plates were cleared after they had sat on the table for at least 35 minutes. Our mains then took another 25 minutes to get to us, so I suspect that being told they were on their way was a lie. To be clear: we were given our mains 1hr 20 mins after placing our order. I complained to a waitress who sent over a manager. The manager asked if we’d had starters (yes, we had) and said that it was our fault our main was so late as we’d had a first course. How insulting!!! Blaming the customer for their bad service. Disgusting. When I said it was still far too long to wait between courses she then changed tack and said the kitchen was “really really busy” well, they weren’t busy cooking our food now were they?! And despite the place being full when we arrived, by this point of the night over half the tables were empty. There were 3 tickets on the pass along with ours and tables were 2 4 people (no large groups) so I feel that was also another lie to get out of it. What a shocking way to treat customers! My advice to you is: if you want your food served in a timely manner, either take the advice of the manager and don’t order a starter, or, be sure to communicate with waitstaff once your first course is finished and ask for your main to be cooked and served promptly. (Note: food also sat under the heat lamps for long lengths of time as staff stood socialising with one another behind the bar rather than serve customers) I hope this advice is of use as I would have appreciated it ahead of my visit! Good luck. [Reading other reviews, ours is not the only experience of slow service and seeing staff chat to one another rather than deal with the customers paying their wages.
