"I'm not a coffee drinker, I love the smell, but not especially enjoy the taste. the coffee here is amazing. I visited twice. I ordered a double espresso for the first time and a soy cappuccino visit the second, and both tasted absolutely beautiful and in contrast to each coffee I had ever creamy frit, not bitter at all and a wonderful smooth taste. we'll go to dinner soon, as both visits were quick stops."

"Very poor value, I had vegan burger and chips; a small lonely burger in a bun with a handful of skinny fries and what constituted a salad was a small pile of rocket with a lazy squirt of balsamic glaze- chef, this does NOT constitute a dressing!! At £17.50 this was very disappointing, complaisant food, I wish I had gone down the chippy.."

"must be unhappy! I booked a table for my friends birthday, was first great, but about 10 minutes or so, after we sit, we were told we had to move. that was annoying when we were about halfway through our drinks and enjoy our window view. After waiting for our food mine for a long time, but they had delivered the wrong order for my friend, so I ate through my tee before she got it. I also asked about a glass of water that was completely forgotten. probably a nice pub, but a very unhappy stay and ruined my friends birthday evening"

"a tasty bite to find a vegan menu with imaginative, unusual tapas dishes, immaculately prepared, they have a very competent cook. we tried polnta with mushrooms, roasted cauliflower with harissa, patatas band, sweet mais and tofu frits. the passion fruit sorbet was exceptional, perfect tangy and tasty. a great selection of weeps but I'm not sure how many vegans were. great personal, very professional and efficient and important, happy that my dog sits with me, good music, good mood. if that was just a Veggie place, it would be quite perfect! updated by the previous review on 2018-09-07"

"had a nice meal with my daughter. the food was excellent. very relaxed atmosphere. all staff very friendly and welcoming. even remembered our names when we were withdrawn into the bar area and served there. had played a great band in the evening. even the locals were a loan to the small village pub could not have been a more beautiful place with nicer people. will definitely be back for eating and atmosphere. dog-friendly and child-friendly."

"This is a very long overdue review and I can only apologise to John for not doing it sooner. My wife and I stayed at the Church house Inn for a lovely long weekend last summer. The self-catered apartment that had just been recently renovated back then really was the perfect place to stay. It was such a cosy and charming spot in a beautiful little village just outside of Totnes. A massive thank you to John who really looked after us, and to his family for their incredible hospitality and divine home cooked food which really is to be experienced. I can't recommend highly enough. If your planning a visit to south Devon, or passing through, look no further."

"Rude, condescending and sarcastic owner/ man serving. Everything was expensive and done as very shabbily. The scones were hard as rock and so dry A tiny pot of clotted cream had to pay extra for this! and £6.00 for a slice of dry cake. An extremely uncomfortable and tense atmosphere- the man was talking to people in such a rude way. Many dirty tables, sticky filthy menus and a dark depressing atmosphere pervaded! We went as a special trip and we all found the experience very negative and very depressing Sugar sachets were not provided and when I asked for some he said ‘ needy!’ Loudly so much so that other customers turned around Dirty trays left on sticky tables I couldn’t wait to get out of there The young lady who took the card payment was sweet I would never return and we all talked about what a horrible place it was on the way home! A couple were turned away despite there being an empty table! they were two and the available table was for four! The most unpleasant man, so rude and really nasty I never normally write reviews but I am astonished this man is still trading ‘ barely there milk’ in the milk jug I was too frightened to ask for more because of his sarcasm Two sachets of sugar Barely any clotted cream ONLY ONE CUP PROVIDED FOR A POT OF TEA! I asked for another but he refused, even though my disabled uncle couldn’t pick up the tea cup ONLY one napkin provided! I had to ask for another and given just one of the cheapest nastiest napkin Dirty toilet Avoid avoid!!!!"

"Really good value, tasty food, wonderful service! The only reason I scored the food down is that I had a slightly upset tummy after... perhaps some of the tempura was a little more oily for me than I'd like. But overall I loved it. Set meal was unusual and had small little portions that were sustaining and also prevent food waste. The jar of kimchee was homemade and so delicious it was the gift that kept giving. It was different to the kind of Japanese food you get in sushi restaurants, and from what I tasted of the macha green icecream the pudding was utterly divine! "We do not visit twice a restaurant that often, especially if there are more opportunities to go on site. But we really enjoyed Willow! Nice place, changing menus every day, fresh and tasteful salad that comes with most items on the menu, friendly staff, great tasting food and finally a place that does not need to use big bags salt to taste their food well. Even the soup was not excessively salted, but very tasty! And prices are very reasonable. Couldn't recommend it anymore. Only an obvious disadvantage: not completely vegan. What they can do easily, considering the elements on the menu."

"would really recommend this place. my partner and I were here for a few nights back in august 2021 and we absolutely loved it. the place is absolutely beautiful. the rooms were simple, but we were more than happy with it, because we only spent time there when we were sleeping and ready. the rooms had basic conveniences like a wardrobe, a complete mirror that is very handy, tea and coffee accessories, shower and dressed. I couldn't make it for the price we paid. we had dinner in the restaurant before place one of the nights that was beautiful. we didn't have to book and the food was so nice. it was so romantic and we could even buy some drinks to come back to the room with us. the location is perfect because it is not far from brixham where we were in the position to get a boat torquay so that we can see so many places in a short time. the personal was so kind and attentive, what is nice to see when they go on vacation because they gave us a really nice greeting. the gardens were absolutely beautiful, there was so much to see, I think we spent an hour or so around the place for which we did not have to pay extra. around the building there were so many different things like wood carving or ceramic or even the national park running around, so there is so much to do. we will come back soon because we loved it absolutely. many thanks for a brilliant stay"

"We ordered two burgers and a ham sandwich for my two-year-old. The menu didn’t offer many options for kids, and it would have been nice to see a children's section, but perhaps they don't cater much to families, which is a bit unfortunate. With a few glasses of Coke and a fruit juice, our total came to just under £50, which I thought was a bit pricey. The bartender who served me was excellent—polite and friendly. Our food was brought out by a waitress who asked if we wanted any sauces and quickly provided them, which was great. However, considering we had burgers, some ketchup for the fries and salad would have been nice! The quality of the meat in the burgers was notably high and very tasty, and the ham sandwich was also good. Overall, it was a pleasant experience, but I found it a bit expensive, so I would rate it 4 out of 5."

"The food and ambiance were surprisingly average considering the stunning location of Dartington. It is a bit challenging to evaluate the service. Two out of the three staff members we encountered were friendly and attentive, deserving of a 5-star rating. However, our main server came across as somewhat arrogant. Despite this, I still left a generous tip. During payment at the bar, he told me that cash tips were preferred, but as we were foreign visitors without British currency, it created an awkward situation at the end of an unremarkable meal. My suggestion to readers is to take heed of negative reviews, as the quality of service and food here can be inconsistent. "

"My partner and I really enjoyed our lunchtime at the River Shack. But there 's a but! While I enjoyed my 'light lunch ' of a smoked mackerel dish, my partner, a vegetarian, opted for the rarebit. How a chef can wreck what is basically cheese on toast, she couldn 't understand! It basically comprised a slice of sourdough with four quarters of apple laid on it and a tasteless gloop poured over. We assumed it had cheese in it but neither the texture nor the taste (lack of) gave much indication. She really enjoyed the fries ordered with though! Having said all that, we 're very likely to go there again as it such a nice place, but in view of my partner 's food experience it 'll probably be just for a coffee and cake experience!"
