"Gorgeous place, amazing food, reasonably priced. Would definitely recommend! We dined as a group of 9. Wait times were very reasonable and the food came together for the most part. I had 3 courses, 2 off the specials menu (starter: garlic butter with warm bread dough balls and main: spring onion buttered chicken with homemade fries and peas) with a brownie and ice cream for dessert, and 3 bottles of coors. Vegetarian options: There were limited options which included starters and mains. For starters I had dough balls with garlic butter. Also available was soup or mushrooms on toast. For mains the option was 3 bean chilli. Dietary restrictions: There were a fair range of gluten free options throughout the entire menu (starters, mains and dessert). Parking: There is a small car park near by but it was full so we had to find street parking that wasn't restricted, a short walk away."

"Skewen is quite the culinary dark horse. As a small town, out of town it has some nice eateries, big and small. No exception to this rule is Rarebit, an enticing cafe I had a takeaway coffee from recently. Some places just have a magical secret ingredient which draws you; the decor, the ambience, the feel, call it what you will. So I re-visited determined to try their breakfast. A couple of days later, and an unforced welcome awaits. The breakfast I have not only sets me up for the day, but well, for whatever I have ahead. I chose the bigger breakfast; consisting of two items of each, toast and a coffee to shake the torpor of grey skies beyond. All is cooked to perfection, and enjoyed in comfortable, cosy surroundings. Sauces come in bottles, not in measly unopenable plastic wraps. Perfick. It's clearly a very popular place, and it's not difficult to see why. Get a place like this in London and you'd pay a fortune for it. Fortunately for me and its clientele, it is not. Delicious. And a stand out moment? Well, it has to be the hash brown, unique, almost rosti like and a lesson to chefs in how to make one. I look forward to my return visit, very much."

"The Smashed Raspberry is a small but clean and friendly eaterie I came across by chance in Neath. The menu includes savoury and sweet crepes, waffles, omelettes, jacket potatoes plus an assortment of lighter bites cakes. Good vegetarian selection available which is always appreciated....Gluten free crepes can be ordered too. Good choice to have a light lunch."

"We went here for a family birthday on a Saturday evening. The atmosphere was great, a perfectly cosy Mediterranean restaurant. The staff were great. Friendly and welcoming. The food was very good. Price: most starters were £7-£10. Mains £11-14. (There were one or two items, such as lobster that were £30+ There was a set meal for around £22, but only available Mon-Thurs. As we had 10 people in our group, a deposit of £10/person was required. Which is reasonable, but worth noting. There was a slight mixup with one of our mains, but this was sorted quickly and without any fuss. As we were a large party, this doesn't seem like a huge issue. I will definitely visit again. Recommended. "Been to Dyffryn Arms many times and enjoyed the experience. Tonight really disappointed the bill for four people came to almost £100. The staff were friendly that’s the positives. The negatives are that I ordered ribeye steak. I asked if I could have an extra tomato to replace the mushroom which I dislike. The waitress very politely told me she didn’t think the kitchen would allow my request. (They didn’t at a cost of £23 I don’t think giving a tomato would affect their profit margin. No jacket potatoes . Steak was quite gristly. Dessert no choice I had a brownie last visit was good tonight seemed dry . At almost £7 didn’t know that as no price on the board that they brought to the table. If we had thought to ask wouldn’t have ordered . Also tables very close together. Expected better as we had praised the Dyffryn to our friends."
