"The staff were really friendly, welcoming accomodating upon arrival during our meal, top service. The meals were deeelicious. I had fish pie, didnt look much but was filled full with chunks of fish was an ample helping. The small fish chips was a good helping with the best chunky chips we'd been looking for, and the sea bass was perfectly cooked too. The deserts are not to be bypassed, presentation was superb the flavours were equally as appealling. Although a wee bit pricey, I wouldn't be worried about recommending this place to eat."

"After hanging up the phone after booking here I had a good feeling about the service from the off due to the demeanour of the lovely young man Kyle who took my call. He asked if I had a table preference, any allergies and if there was anything else he could help me with regarding my booking. I only had to say my name, date and time of booking once too. Quite rare these days when booking over the phone. I wasn’t wrong, the service was amazing from the moment we stepped inside. We didn’t have to grab anyone’s attention and they weren’t overly hovering. As an ex chef I was blown away with the price, size and quality of the food. It really was so unexpected. We ordered the trio of desserts as we couldn’t decide what to go for and boy they were good. I’m going to go out on a limb here and say it was the best dessert I’ve had in a restaurant for over 3 years!!! We had a bottle of red wine. A pint, an espresso martini, garlic flat bread, hunters chicken, steak pie and the trio of desserts and our total bill was £80. I was so impressed. I can’t wait to go back."

"A great night had by six of us at the Dean despite the new covid restrictions. The Dean have implemented strict covid measures which instantly makes you feel safe. We were placed at 3 tables for 2, perfect. Due to the present situation no one...is allowed to order at the bar. The table service was first class and all with a smile and great banter. A good varied selection on the menu and one friend was very impressed her very own gluten free menu and the choices available, she was thrilled to have fish and chips. Everyone of us thoroughly enjoyed our meal. We will definitely be back for more of this great pub."

"Absolutely shocking the way we where spoken to in this shop.... My wife is exempt from wearing a face mask the guy was very abrupt but another customer was there without a faceask but was only asked after the man was abrupt with my wife absolutely disgusting the way we where treated.... Won't be ordering again and will be letting friends and family know..... Absolutely no need to speak to people the way he did I have one very upset wife she had her excempt card on and showed him it.... As I said we normally order alot but never again and family and friends probably won't want to order again either.... My wife should get an apology for the upset this has caused"

"The Sun Inn has been our go-to restaurant in the Edinburgh area for over 12 years. The food has always been exceptional, but unfortunately, our recent visit was a disappointment. There have been significant changes to the menu, and not for the better. While the soup was good, the crispy cauliflower was a disaster. The steak pie was also underwhelming. Despite no issues with the staff, our bill was high for just four alcoholic drinks, three starters, and three mains. Overall, it was a complete disaster and based on recent reviews, it seems like there are ongoing issues. It's a shame to write this review as my partner and daughter have always loved The Sun Inn."
