"The last time we went here it said on their website that it was open and it was closed. This time we called to check that the cafe was open, as we knew there was an event on. We were told that the cafe was open as normal. When we got there the main entrance was closed with a pick-up parked in front of it. We were directed to a rear entrance which was a significant diversion. We found ourselves in a queue for the event and travelling an extremely wet and muddy track and had the opportunity to park in a field and walk to the cafe. It was a quagmire and we opted to continue for the exit along a track in a far worse state than the one we had entered on. The car really did look as though we had been in a rally. How this counts as 'open as normal ' I cannot imagine. Never, never again."

I went to find out where the beehives were located. Nobody could help and didn't seem that bothered with me as I wasn't buying any lunch. Their farm shop used to have a wide range of local food and deli items but sadly, it's almost like an after thought these days

Cattows tearoom is a nice big airy venue but the breakfast offering is overpriced and poor quality. Scrambled eggs over cooked/rubbery, pancakes seemed shop bought/microwaved and were lukewarm. I have been previously when the smashed avocado was clearly out of a jar which is unforgivable for the price charged. Some staff are great but others seem surly.

Cattows goes from strength to strength. I first started visiting about 10 years ago. The extension has a really classy feel to it which complements the quality of the food. We often call in for coffee and cake and the selection is fantastic the best I have seen anywhere. Refreshing change from the usual Victoria Sponge etc. Plenty of parking with lots always going on. A treat to have a well run operation like this on your doorstep Voir le carte

Spent a lovely evening in the pumpkin fields. We did not pick any pumpkins, but certainly saw how the other families and kids were enjoying picking. There were many fun activities especially for kids, however, we only purchased the entry tickets which allowed a general visit, which was worth for the price. Loved the evening spent and also tried freshly baked cake from the coffee shop which was delightful. There were also other food stalls.

Called in on spec after Sence Valley Forest parkrun. Lots of choice for food and drink, alcoholic or otherwise. Vegetarian and vegan options available. The venue was tastefully decorated for Christmas. Staff were polite and pleasant. I very much enjoyed my avocado and poached eggs on sourdough toast. The avocado although well smashed was as I like it, not overly chilled, the poached eggs were perfectly cooked, nice runny yolk and the sourdough toast was tangy. We would return.

We booked a private room for an afternoon tea my daughter’s baby shower. Contact with Cattows from start to finish was great. It was an easy room for us to decorate. 3 guests had dietary requirements which were catered for perfectly. The tea was presented beautifully and there was a lovely choice. We thought it was very good value for money. The staff were attentive, coming in during the afternoon to see if we needed more drinks. All of our guests who hadn’t visited Cattows before were very impressed. Thankyou Voir le carte

Called for take away cakes and lunch. Ordered cake Ordered a coffee and sandwich to eat in. Asked if I’d booked a table when I said no the look of distain was not welcome. booking not a demand requirement on line) I am recently widowed, and just readjusting to life without an other to share lunch or a coffee with. The attitude I received was deplorable. I work in Customer Service, I expect to receive a reasonable level of servility, especially when parting from hard earned cash… Food 4* Ambiance 3* Staff attitude to lone customer 0* Needless to say i will take my business elsewhere.

I arrived at the team rooms just before 9am, to be welcomed by the farm owner himself, Alan. Lovely man. I was seated by the window which had a fabulous view of the surrounding area, very picturesque. Having made my breakfast choice, I went to pay at the till, to be met by a beautiful young lady called Amy to whom was very helpful. As I started to drink my tea, my hot breakfast arrived which tasted absolutely fantastic. I'm glad I arrived and ate when I did, as the room was getting very busy. I will certainly be returning again, thank you Amy for making my breakfast most enjoyable. Such a lovely lady.

"We stayed for one night prior to a flight at East Midlands Airport and everything was excellent, from the warm, welcoming staff, to the rooms and the simply delicious food (evening and breakfast). Firstly the pub: food, drinks, restaurant… All excellent. The sign of a great pub for ale drinkers is one with knowledgeable staff who are keen to let you sample before deciding on a pint. This was the case here and we worked through all five real ales during the afternoon and evening! Also a great selection of wines, and everything served in the correct glasses I loved the attention to detail. Then the evening meal in the restaurant area of the pub: this was also excellent, with a great menu and top food, in plentiful portions. Really delicious all ‘round. We didn’t manage desserts but starters and mains all great. The pub/restaurant is well presented inside and out, with a lovely beer garden at the back. Secondly, the hotel rooms: we were in rooms 1 2 and both were lovely. They were well presented, comfy beds, nice hospitality tray (with fresh milk in the in room fridge), nice toiletries. The room rate included breakfast, which was all freshly cooked to order and once again, a great selection. I would 100% stay here again, especially if going to/from East Midlands airport which was less than a 10 minute drive. A lovely, traditional country Inn with excellent food and hospitality. Thank you to the full team."

"Nipped in for a quick bite on a Friday evening. We went up to what looked like the restaurant bar and asked if it was possible to get a table but were directed to the main bar to ask about this. The place was packed- getting served at the internal bar would have been a bit of a fight. Had a similar experience on a visit here before because there's not much space around the bar so you tend to get an impenetrable crowd instead of any sort of line. Eventually managed to get the attention of a member of staff and were told the restaurant was fully booked, however we could sit outside and order food at the bar to our outside table. Would have saved us some time if that was communicated through the team and relayed by the first person we asked instead of sending us to queue elsewhere. We did order to an outside table, and the food was excellent. The small pizzas really are quite small. But if you have a couple of sides they're perfect to not overstuff you. If you want to just eat pizza probably get a large. Also they had really interesting topping selections on the pizzas- I had the spiced aubergine, creme fraiche and honey. It was absolutely delicious. The chips were hot and well seasoned, the greek salad also really nice- I did miss the addition of peppers and would possibly remove the pea shoots and sub in the peppers to improve this and keep it more authentic though. Drinks were nice and the atmosphere inside was quite cosy and outside had a nice vibe with the tasteful lightning and wooden furniture. Would definitely return (but probably make a reservation. It's busy for a reason!"
