Lovely atmosphere for our first office Xmas shindig in 3 years. Good food plentiful and tasty. All the lunchtime staff welcoming. Would strongly recommend.

Make sure you're a regular at this place if you want any kind of reasonable service otherwise prepare to be ignored and when you are served, expect second rate service

We visited on a Sunday and the restaurant wasn’t busy. We are two adults, one child and a dog. The greeting was friendly and the service swift. However, one meal arrived much later than the others and the food we ordered for the dog did...

We decided to try this restaurant based on its reputation for good food, but were disappointed by the long wait to be seated despite only four tables being occupied. It took an additional ten minutes to receive a drink and our food took a considerable amount of time to arrive. To make matters worse, a side dish we ordered did not arrive until halfway through our meal.

I recently visited this restaurant for a family birthday and had a great evening. The food was delicious and the service was good. The only drawback was that it took a while for the food to be served, but it was worth the wait as it was piping hot and freshly cooked. I have also been here for breakfast several times and it has always been fantastic. The restaurant could use a refurbishment, especially the bathrooms, but we still love it. We are looking forward to coming back later this week for some live music and an overnight stay.

We booked our office Christmas meal at the Carpenters Arms a month ago based on good reviews of the food. We arrived a few minutes late and were seated promptly. The waitress took our order quickly, mentioning they were busy and there could be a delay. Our starters arrived promptly and were delicious, but unfortunately, that was the only food we received. After waiting for over an hour and a half, we inquired about our meals but received no clear answer. Frustrated with the lack of service, we decided to cancel our order and leave. A week before we went for breakfast, which was yummy, so we decided we should go there for a meal. We are a family of 6 and all ordered different things. We had booked a table, when we arrived we were told there is a 45mins wait on food, we didn’t really mind, so we waited. Not once did they ask us if we would like more drinks. Our table was outside the kitchen and the waitress every time she opened the door she would have stern words with the staff, while the door was open. Not professional. We stayed two nights in two singles. Spacious rooms and nice comfy beds. A real bonus were the ceiling fans in the rooms: as ground floor rooms not wanting to open windows at night this was great. One room had walk in shower the other a shower over bath could do with a handrail though. Food in pub very good lasagne excellent and friendly helpful staff. They were doing very good trade on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings we were there so obviously a popular place with locals. Very quiet even though just off A420.
