We dropped into this routine-looking trattoria not expecting to like it, because we were exhausted from sighseeing. What a happy surprise! Heavenly lasagna and tiara missou. Mid-way between the Duomo and the Bargelolo, it makes a convenient restaurant break. Go there. Unlike the experience of an earlier poster, we found the management to be gracious, and they happily accepted our credit card.

We stopped in for the fixed price 14,50 Euro menu after a hot day walking around Florence. We both started with the Caprese salad fresh but not very seasoned. For the main the lasagna and the gnocchi were both delicious. They were served with freshly grated parm and fresh bread. A mild blueberry cheesecake and sweet tiramisu finished off our meal. Service was quick without making us feel rushed. They did not charge us a service fee or any hidden fees for dining inside like other places. It had a comforting family feel and clean washrooms. A great choice for our lunch!!

first, it was accident that we went here. we meant to go the restaurant next door and was led here by google maps (the next door restaurant was still closed at the time). we didn't realize this until after. there was no one in here--that should've ticked us off. the eggplant parmesan was excellent and the florentine steak was ok (a little on the chewy side). but what i was really annoyed by was the 15% automatic service charge, and then being told they wanted cash payment only. they eventually took my credit card but then charged us for the tiramisu they brought out for one of our group's birthday. sooo tacky.

The food was lovely. Half way into our meal, a woman entered that claimed to be the owner. She was American, as were we, and disrupted our meal throughout. She appeared friendly but kept getting more aggressive and talked to us throughout our meal. The waitstaff appeared apologetic. It was really unclear whether she really was an owner or just a drunk woman. Either way, she disrupted what would have been a lovely meal. And then, like others, we were told they had a technical issue and could only take cash. All in all, I have to say there are better places to eat in Florence. The waitress and hostess were quiet lovely though :

I got into this restaurant as I was wondering around looking for a good place to have some Italian as it’s my first time in Italy and was really looking forward to Italian pizza . The lady at the front door was welcoming and she led me in. At first I thought this could be a hidden gem but it wasn’t at all. I ordered a salad which did taste good . We slipped into this establishment because no one else was there. Now we know why. I ordered a grilled sirloin, medium, on a bed of arugula with potatoes with slices of Parmesan cheese fresh tomatoes. Cutting the meat slices with difficulty using a steak knife was indicative of how much chewing I'd be engaged in to choke down this piece of meat.
