"My friend I visited this small cafe were very disappointed with our food. I had ordered a Cheddar cheese Ploughman's which came with pickle, coleslaw, salad along with the cheese 2 slices of thin granny bread apple, Big disappointment when it arrived as I had a few leaves of green salad mixture,1 slice of cucumber, a quarter of a wedge of tomato,a few seeds of goodness knows what ! 3 thin slices of cheddar cheese,1 pickled onion cut in half 3 thin slices of apple for a price £7-50 along with an banana milkshake with ice cream costing £2-50. My friend had sausage, beans chips added 2 eggs which she was charged £1 extra for those. All in all.a disappointment."

My partner and I love visiting this wonderful cafe regularly. Every time we walk in, we are greeted with a warm smile. The breakfast is delicious and the coffee is always top-notch.

Had a fabulous lunch here; a toasted sandwich with salad and coleslaw. A little expensive but really yummy and the staff were so lovely and nothing was too much trouble. Coffee was great, too. Voir le carte

We live in Totnes and often go to The Brioche Cafe for breakfasts or lunch every time the food and service is superb. Our favs are the veggie breakfasts, jackets with goats cheese/beetroot and the wraps all really nice and good sized portions. The coffee served here is also excellent.

The Brioche is one of the few places in Totnes which you can rely on to serve really good value food and drink with no airs graces. Freshly prepared food, generous portions, friendly service and a totally relaxed atmosphere. Shoppers, business people and the relaxed hippy population all use this top of town cafe its great.

Had an amazing cream tea at Brioche Cafe in Totnes on a visit to Devon. It was one of those “really hits the spot” moments. With Devon’s reputation for the best cream teas (cream first, then jam), it lived up to our high expectations. Perfect warm scones, crazy thick cream and just the right amount of delicious local jam. Proper job my lover! Voir le carte

The Brioche is just a great little cafe. Serves good simple and tasty food, good quality at reasonable prices. Eaten here lots of times. Always friendly and never disappointed. Decent fresh coffee. Particularly like the outdoor seating, which is covered a relaxing place to watch the world go by. On the high street so lots of fantastic little shops nearby.

The staff are really good. They went out of their way to ensure that the service was good and we never had empty plates on the table for long. The food portions however were not so good. I had a breakfast which was just a...slice of bacon, one egg and some beans with slice of toast. It could hardly be called a breakfast. The food tasted good though so the quality of food was definitely good enough. We also had cake which was good. My wife had a cream tea here which was her third cream tea of the week! This little cafe had the best cream tea of them all apparently.

"The positive is that the food is good. But the negative is the service time and the attitude of the staff. We were seated and had our order taken after 20 minutes. A little slow but it was a busy Saturday evening so understandable. Starters came promptly and were eaten. We then got ignored by every passing member of staff for at least 50 minutes. Quite the skill! Once there was a break in our conversation and I realised how long it had been, I stood up to intercept a waitress and asked “are our mains on the way, please?” Our ticket was checked by her at the kitchen hatch and we were told “yes”. At this point our starter plates were cleared after they had sat on the table for at least 35 minutes. Our mains then took another 25 minutes to get to us, so I suspect that being told they were on their way was a lie. To be clear: we were given our mains 1hr 20 mins after placing our order. I complained to a waitress who sent over a manager. The manager asked if we’d had starters (yes, we had) and said that it was our fault our main was so late as we’d had a first course. How insulting!!! Blaming the customer for their bad service. Disgusting. When I said it was still far too long to wait between courses she then changed tack and said the kitchen was “really really busy” well, they weren’t busy cooking our food now were they?! And despite the place being full when we arrived, by this point of the night over half the tables were empty. There were 3 tickets on the pass along with ours and tables were 2 4 people (no large groups) so I feel that was also another lie to get out of it. What a shocking way to treat customers! My advice to you is: if you want your food served in a timely manner, either take the advice of the manager and don’t order a starter, or, be sure to communicate with waitstaff once your first course is finished and ask for your main to be cooked and served promptly. (Note: food also sat under the heat lamps for long lengths of time as staff stood socialising with one another behind the bar rather than serve customers) I hope this advice is of use as I would have appreciated it ahead of my visit! Good luck. [Reading other reviews, ours is not the only experience of slow service and seeing staff chat to one another rather than deal with the customers paying their wages.
