"stay here for 2 nights made the mistake to take a big volvo through the front entrance it was simply unworn, there is a much easier wise when they turn the pub right and right again our debt for not asking. we had a superior room, so a parking space booked and was easily found how marked for us. check in easy and fast, nice comfortable room -21. we had dinner twice, which was beautiful, served quickly by attentive employees huge screaming after sylvia, who was born for hospitable, what a star, efficient, funny exceptionally attentive to all not lose them she is a massive asset. the breakfast is also beautiful. the magnificent atmospheric bar, all wrapped in a beautiful village, rushed to see no spirit that is wonderful to them for our Pre-Xmas trip."

Gidleigh Park

"Gidleigh Park is a country house located in a wooden wally in Devon. It is quite hard to reach the place on a very narrow road, which is very beautiful, but apparently during the winter larger cars can’t even get there. Gidleigh Park houses a two-Michelin star restaurant with Michael Caines as the main chef (the restaurant was recently voted number 1 restaurant in the UK by the Harden’s Sunday Times Food List 2014). Gidleigh Park also has bedrooms (apparently all individual in style and design) and you can stay there for the night and then wonder in the gardens of the estate, which I saw some people doing when I was there. I was visiting Devon and my boyfriend chose Gidleigh Park for lunch on a Sunday and we took the long and narrow road to Gidleigh Park. The inside of the house was very old and had a lot of charm. It had eclectic art and antiques and different style rooms, the lounge had different tables, chairs and the bar was done up in a completely different style. Gidleigh Park showcased British charm and elegance. You could chose to have their signature sample menu for £140/ person, but instead we went for the much cheaper version, their lunch set menu for £44/ person for 3 courses (you could also have 4 courses for £57). Also note choosing dishes a la carte would set you back £115, so the lunch menu seems like the cheapest way how to enjoy Gidleigh Park. We did not have any wine, but apparently thy have an amazing wine cellar. The three course lunch menu included a small appetizer, a starter and a main course and you could choose from one of the 3 starters and one of the 3 main courses. Our appetizer was “goat’s cheese foam with beetroot jelly, candied walnuts and granny smith apple”, but as my boyfriend does not like goats’ cheese he had a tuna tartar as his appetizer which actually looked better than my appetizer. "We popped into the Ring O Bells on a very sleepy and quiet Sunday afternoon. It's a charming old world pub in the heart of Chagford. They had a very limited Sunday menu which was fine as we were just looking for sandwiches and chips to keep us going. Friendly staff soon had our order and we sat in the bar and relaxed. Our food came in good order and it was all tasty and filling, exceptionally large bowl of chips!"

Fingle Bridge Inn

"The walk from the Mill End Hotel to Fingle along the river is really lovely. Most parts are easy to navigate, although there are a few steep sections that require careful footing. The views are stunning, and there are fantastic spots for wild swimming. We spent an hour at Fingle. There are parking options available when driving, as well as a large field on the opposite side of the bridge, which is perfect for a picnic."

"We spent four nights at this hotel/restaurant and the main criticism was the limited dinner menu . The pork dish was good but you had to pay extra for vegetables and at one meal the new potatoes definitely tasted re-heated. I am sure this restaurant was fine for a one off meal but not for a stay of over two days. Sauces on the food were too plentiful and strong. Puddings were fine as were the breakfasts. I am not sure how a vegetarian would have coped as the options were even more limited. Beds were lovely and comfy in great surroundings and the staff were excellent but a few extra options in plainer food would have made this place somewhere we would come back to."
