"Parked here before our six-mile round walk as we’d booked in for Sunday lunch. Although there isn’t a separate Sunday lunch menu, the regular menu, special boards and extra specials the staff told us about (great memory) gave plenty of options. For starters we chose Whitby crab salad, pigeon breast (amazing) and Brie brûlée. Mains were duck breast, rabbit, chorizo and sun-dried tomato pie and beer braised Lincolnsire beef-all were great portions and delicious. The service from the two young gentlemen was outstanding; we all said what a credit to your families you were. Dog and children friendly. Will definitely return."

Family run, good wholesome food. Great range of beer, stayed two nights, would be happy to return. Would recommend as a hub for field sports

I had a very enjoyable evening at this restaurant. The staff was warm and friendly, the food was amazing, and they had a large car park for your convenience. I will definitely be returning in the future. - Col.

This is the second time this year that we have stayed at the Black Horse and we will definitely be back. We were made to feel very welcome. The room was very clean and comfortable. The food was brilliant and the real ale excellent.

Absolutely horrendous. Sat for one and a half hours before starters arrived. Soup was nice but came with 3 triangles of bread instead of crusty roll as stated. Daughter couldn’t even eat her main as the fish smelt awful. Chef looked scruffy and no chef clothes. Food was awful. Never coming again.

We stopped here for lunch today. The 2 young gents serving were super friendly and very attentive without being intrusive. Our food was fabulous we ended up with 3 courses as the food was so good. The braised beef was melt in your mouth tasty would definitely recommend this good value great food pub

having read the 2 terrible reviews I can not believe this is the same pub.we were on bikes and knew the pub was open. very warm welcome on arrival, fab menu made it a difficult choice. i had melt in the mouth brisket and my wife salmon also perfectly cooked, washed down with a lovely pint, no room for puds but had a nice pot of tea. will definately return.

Friendly welcome on arrival and staff very friendly throughout or stay at this great traditional local pub. The food was amazing, fresh and very tasty with good sized portions offering value for money. The rooms located out of the main pub in separate wing, once inside they are very clean. Although a remote location, it’s a lovely area if you fancy walking or cycling around the Lincolnshire Wolds

I discovered this charming pub while exploring the area. I received a warm and friendly welcome upon arrival. Despite being located in a small village, the menu was extensive and diverse. The food was well-prepared and nicely presented. The landlady was engaging and attentive, even though the pub was busy. The portions were generous and reasonably priced, offering great value for money. The locals are fortunate to have this gem in their neighborhood. Definitely worth a visit.

I would not recommend this restaurant. We had to wait 35 minutes for our meal and had to ask where our food was. We were told they were busy, which was surprising because there were only 10 people inside the restaurant and 4 people outside eating. The quality of the meal did not justify the price. My chicken breast cooked in BBQ sauce tasted like it came from a bottle. The sides included salad potatoes, overcooked broccoli, carrots, and soggy swede. There was also some kind of red cabbage that tasted bad. The staff did not seem concerned, so we ate what we could, paid, and left. We will not be returning.

"Booked stayed at this place very recently having read the excellent reviews. As a very level headed person, certainly not delusional I failed in trying to recognise or match the place based on any of the reviews posted on Booking.com The place, whilst very quaint appealing from the outside is in direct contrast to the inside! In reality, it 's very much in dire need of deep cleaning, redecorating and refurbishing. The food, not sure who prepared the meals in the reviews I read, but fail to see how it could be the same chef as the one that cooked ours! Our meals arrived no less than 40 minutes after ordering. The drinks to occupy us while we waited never did arrive when our meals finally arrived served (if slapping on the table warrants being called served three out of the five items that made up the meal were uncooked, cold unedible! The excuse given by the waitress, is far too busy and understaffed, yet despite not being able to fulfil the job paid for, they still take fee paying guests who are treated far less than second class citizens to the regular clientele supping at the bar! Far too busy but not enough to stop them from taking longer than necessary to laugh talking to the regulars! Needless to say, we ate at other places for the rest of our stay. DO NOT BE FOOLED, as we were by the reviews, which have stayed are extremely questionable indeed! If one is used to using hostels I can see this could be deemed as good, if not excellent accommodation. On the flip side, if one is used to hotels that are clean customer focused then this hotel (a grand name for nothing more than a public house with accommodation not a very good or pleasant one at that is not the one for you!!"
