Lovely Portuguese restaurant, which is always busy, but if they are pushed, you can eat on the bar. Be warned. Go hungry. The portions are huge. Grilled salmon is actually one and a half salmon steaks with vegetables and salad. The fish kebabs are also...lovely, but I cannot manage to eat the whole portion alone. Staff are friendly. Since there are many non Portuguese restaurants in the Portuguese Quarter in Hamburg, we paid attention to go to a Portuguese restaurant and were quite satisfied with our choice. Beira-Rio calls itself a fish restaurant, so most of the dishes are based on fish or...mussels. Except for salad there are no vegetarian options, but when I asked them, I received a great dish with mushroom and some kind of potatoe crisps. It tasted good and was plentiful. My colleagues also liked their food. Service was very attentive and nice. For Hamburg standards prices are quite reasonable.

my friend and I went on Sunday October in this restaurant. we ordered a paella with fish asking whether it was already made or whether it was fresh. the waiter told us it was absolutely fresh. When the plate arrived, I noticed that it was cooked in many times and not really in the paella the fish was old and you could notice it from the taste of the garnel and muddling. of course it was already prepared and it could be that it was frozen with old fish.
