"After our experience at Apero, it is hard to believe that the owner of this café is in the restaurant/catering business! We are concert musicians who travel regularly around Europe, visit A LOT of coffee shops and experience A LOT of different mentalities but frankly we have never experienced this sort of assault. Basically, we were kicked out of the cafe, in broad daylight, in front of other sitting customers. We were firstly served by a young lady (we ordered two cappuccinos) and once she brought it to us, remained sitting outside for about 15-20 minutes. (During this time, a pair of two women was constantly staring at us, my husband was a bit annoyed, but hey, we are tourists, it’s a small town.) Out of nowhere, the owner showed up and started saying something to us in an slightly unpleasant tone. His English was not great but we understood that we have made a mistake: we brought a bag from the bakery with us and I must’ve nibbled on a cinnamon roll when he saw us. This gaff was everything but intentional: we are parents to a small baby and we just wanted a nice coffee once he’d fallen asleep in the pram. We even forgot we had the bag with us. Moreover, my husband was probably doing the same as we were ordering but the lady serving us hasn’t said anything. Anyway, we apologized seeing him getting so agitated and said it will not happen again, “may we offer to pay you for the sweets?”, frantically getting our money out of our wallets. However, he continued speaking, in German, getting louder, wanting to include other guests in the discusion… it was as if he was giving us a police lecture, and he wouldn’t stop! Either we were missing something completely (maybe our rolls were not really the issue?) but seriously, there was no need for this kind of behavior. Anyway, if his intention was to make us feel unwanted or unwelcome, he succedded. He asked us to leave and we did, gladly! If you want to be insulted for your money, go for it. Scary experience."

Small and nice cafe on the edge of the city center. Here you can get a very tasty chocolate cake but there are also some small snacks with some very tasty wines in the menue.

A small coffee place (also a bit of lunch bites) in the center of the city - good wines, too. And make sure to test the Pasteis de Nata - they're served warm and with a sprinkle of cinnemon...

I love this place.. Usually we come for coffee, which is very good.. The service is also very friendly. I've eaten once or twice here and the food was very good. Everything is fresh and seems homemade.

its a nice place great bistro food, nice quiche and salad, sandwiches, great april spritz, and great coffee from wacker in frankfurt, limited seating outside, and its nice on a sunny afternoon, its on the rodeo drive of darmstadt!

I am so happy that I have discovered this place. Their choice of wines is excellent. Stuff is very polite. I have tried few meals the food is very unique and delicious and additionally prices are very reasonable. I am going there few times...a month

Das apéro ist einfach eine der besten Adressen in Darmstadt für perfektes Essen, leckere Weine und gute Unterhaltungen. Einfach die perfekte Tagesbar. Bauhaus-Architektur trifft französische Küche. Raffiniert und doch bodenständig. Einfach und doch ausgekügelt bis ins Detail. Einfach ein Traum. Geheimtipp: Alle Salate!

I ordered a cup tee and asked for strong black and English breakfast tea with milk. I have a beautiful darjeeling, but that's not what I wanted. the biggest problem was that the water was not hot enough and even though I was. my tee bag right into the water, the tee was not really brewed. it was very bright yellow color. When I told the waitress and showed her the tee, she said that she always gets the water from the machine and looked at me with a stone-like face. She didn't apologize, she didn't suggest the money back, she didn't offer me another tee. the quiche was good, although :
