Sitting at the foot of the castle in Bad Bentheim, this is a traditional German restaurant. Dog friendly. Had my usual rumpsteak dinner. No complaints.

We had a very nice dinner here. Service was friendly and quick, and our meal was very tasty and plentiful. The location with the outside terrace is nice as well. I would happily recommended this place.

We have just eaten here. Firstly we were told they have no explanations of the menu in English. Anyway we ordered had our meal. We then went to pay by a travel card loaded with Euros. Not acceptable, in fact no cards were acceptable, but...this was not advertised anywhere for cash only

Except the location near Burg Bentheim and Bismarck Monument I can not say anything positive about the restaurant. My baked Schafkäse was literally swimming in a pool of olive oil, unpleasant taste. the old bentheim has a pretty nice terrace right in front of the castle. good sunshades on a hot day. staff very friendly and helpful, eating came quite fast. drink in good size. spontaneously ask if they want water with the wine. could only pay money... all because the card reader couldn't get any connection.

Went there with a family of five, food was OK not great, large portions but kinda bland food, not worth the money. Service initially was good, friendly staff but after we ordered and the place became busier, we because invisible to the staff after...waiting for 15 minutes to order desert we went over to the desk for service, still no service, we decided to leave and asked for the bill, still no service only after getting up to leave somebody had time to help us. tl;Dr(too long; didn't read): food mediocre, service bad, overpriced for what they deliver

I don't know what to think about restaurant old bentheim. if they expect to have a hearty and tasty food, freshly prepared from high-quality ingredients, as in thousands of German hoefe throughout the country, this expectation is not fulfilled. don't get me wrong. eating is not so bad, but the presentation is on the market and the prices are quite steep for a German restaurant. because the restaurant really lies under the smoke of the castle bentheim, directly opposite, I think that the tourism has influenced the performance and pricing of the restaurant old bentheim next time in bad bentheim I will continue looking for a lunch place.
