"If you are in Zermatt, whether summer or winter, Restaurant Du Pont is a MUST! I believe it's the oldest restaurant in Zermatt and it shows - the inside is very cozy with older photos and materials strung around the restaurant. The upstairs is very quaint! Once you open the door you KNOW you are in a place that knows cheese! So you must order something with cheese at this restaurant :) I've had the Kase Fondue (cheese fondue) including the one with mushrooms, herbs and plain - I loved all of them but the herb one was the best. They give you Fondue for one and it is actually enough for two!I've also had the Käseschnitte - the Swiss family I was with always gets this as I think it's also a real typical Swiss dish. As an American this was a new and delicious dish to me (think American grilled cheese, but with much better cheese and served open-face).I also tried the Raclette once before too, also good but I think you should stick to Fondue or Käseschnitte! The Fondue is Wallis style so it comes with boiled potatoes instead of bread - if you want bread instead let them know (or if you want bread in addition to the potatoes, the potatoes are a bit too heavy for me).What I would recommend is to get Fondue for One to share between Two and then get one Käseschnitte to share among Two. You will be FULL and HAPPY! PS: I can eat a lot, for a normal person just sharing the Fondue for One might be enough but... the Käseschnitte...;)"

"a business friend has recommended us this restaurant. from outside, the chalet da giuseppe is rather inconspicuous. what awaited us in the restaurant was absolute class. a warm, welcoming south-western atmosphere with a lot of charm. giuseppe and his professional team dominates the craft excellent, they are the born hostes. we felt like kings from the first minute. giuseppe lives the gastfreundschaft and the staff also has this in the blood. and eating with a fine "dried Italian wein" was simply pointed. we have decided to do so. the various walks with the fine specialties were competent and with much love and can be prepared and served. we will come back to the chalet da giuseppe when we are in disguise."

"Wir gingen nach Viktoria dreimal in einer Woche zweimal für Apres Ski Getränke, einmal für eine Familie Abendessen. Das Bild von TripAdvisor ist nur etwas über ausgesetzt und macht das Restaurant sehen etwas heller als es ist. Die Atmosphäre ist ruhig und intim bei Kerzenlicht und gemütlich. es ist billig Standards von Zermatt d.h. ca. 177 Schweizer Franken für ein Abendessen für 4 Personen. Autsch, Sie sagen. Gut, dass die Zermatt! Das Hotel hat ein großes Herz und die Küche war exzellent am Abend gingen wir, vor allem mit der Fisch: Muscheln in Prosecco, einige Wolfsbarsch und coquilles Street Jacques mit vier fat Jakobsmuscheln wunderschön gesalzen und buttrig. Der Service war aufmerksam aber süß. Wir fühlten uns sehr wohl dort und wir hatten einen Abend zufrieden. Und das Apricot aromatisiert Schnaps Ace, aber vielleicht war es auch nicht zu haben einen Nachschlag."

"The service here was amazing. We came in to book after we saw the menu outside whilst we were passing. The lovely gentleman behind the bar promised us a good table (without us asking) and when we arrived a few days later, he had a...large table by the window just for the two of us. We ordered a small tuna tartare each and a Caesar salad to share. The tuna tartare was amazing served with thin fries and the Caesar salad was also great! Service was fab would absolutely recommend to anyone. Very unassuming from the outside but incredible food."

"Never waited so long to eat something! There are not enough « cooks » there. You had to wait for the guy at one table to finish before moving on to the next. The lobster (Fuji Menu) probably came straight from fashion week because it was thin and lean... Looked more like a large shrimp. For 135. just a disgrace. In addition, nothing is seasoned but simply warmed up quickly and tossed around wildly. We left before Desert because the waiting was just too much for us... It's a real shame for the money and time."

"Zermatt restaurants are expensive! If you want to find a place that offers a more affordable dining menu, this is a good one. They have a breakfast, lunch and evening menu including a nice soup selection. The prices are lower than most of the Zermatt...restaurants, the food is good and the atmosphere is very nice. The location is on a side street, so it is easy to miss, but is worth the effort of looking for it."

"A hugely enjoyable challenge strenous, very steep and at times exposed hike to the Hornlihutte but only 2.5 3 hours duration on way up and less on way down a good head for heights, a good level of fitness, proper hiking footwear (not trainers!! attire (can be very cold and some snow at top even in summer and sure footedness are essential plus a few days to acclimatise before attempting is an advantage wonderful and exhilarating hike but not for the faint hearted. Some absolute sheer drops, metal platforms steps to navigate around above the cliffs, very narrow ledges and gravelly (potentially slippery paths, some of which are roped. Views from the Hornlihutte are incredible panoramic spectacular sun terrace and the staff are so friendly, welcoming and chatty. Well worth hiking up past the Hornlihutte to base of the Matterhorn itself to read the moving plaques and if desired, climb up the first few metal footholds ropes of this majestic mountain for a photo opportunity. Felt a real sense of achievement to have reached the Hornlihutte one of life's great and special moments but I did find it a bit scary in parts on the way up and down! For the rest of the week kept looking at it from a distance and couldn't quite believe we had been up there amazing experience if you are fit and have no fear of heights, it's the ultimate Zermatt hiking experience simply unforgettable. NB Remember to check the small print of your Holiday Insurance as a hike of this altitude can be classed under Hazardous Activities our regular policy only covered us up to 3000 metres and the Hornlihutte sits at 3260m (10,700ft . Could be an expensive rescue if any unexpected injuries occur on the final section!"

"We had been warned off the Capri but went anyway and enjoyed it. It has a Michelin star and 17 with Gault-Millau and produces good food in fine surroundings. It was a good last meal of a memorable holiday when the sun shone for six days and the snow was excellent.We were warmly welcomed although the restaurant was quite empty although it filled up a bit later. We had very fine grissini and an excellent assortment of rolls.The food was good. I had a crusty boiled egg with a truffle sauce followed by spaghetti in a very good creamy cheese sauce. It was cooked al dente and was excellent. My friends had equally good food, especiall the desserts.For my dessert I had a lovely chocolate confection. We had an excellent Sicilian white wine and left feeling that we had eaten well albeit expensively"

"Nettes, von der Besitzerfamilie geführtes Hotel. Liegt nur 20m von der Talstation der Sunnegga- Rothorn- Bahn entfernt. Ins Dorf und zur Gornergratbahn sind es 5-10 Min. zu Fuss. Highlight im Restaurant: das Cheminee, nicht zum gemütlich davor zu sitzen. Sondern alles Fleisch, und Fisch von der Menükarte wird darauf zubereitet. Ein Genuss! Die Corona Massnahmen werden umgesetzt, zum Frühstück wird serviert, was man zuvor bestellt. Nur was verpackt ist, kann man selber nehmen, und sich an der Kaffeemaschine bedienen."

"We are regular visitors to Zermatt and have eaten at many a restaurant at this amazing ski resort. Simi stands out not only outstanding food, but excellent service. Stephan and his team are ultimate professionals. The food is delicious and a feast for the eyes before it even reaches your taste buds. I had the lobster and truffle risotto which was on the day's list of specials. It was superb. We were a group of 11, all served at the same time, and everyone's food was perfect - ranging from the less sophisticated croute au fromage to the refined truffle risotto. The desserts were a real treat. Great wine list. All in all my absolute favorite restaurant on the slopes. The food and service largely make up for passing on a full view of the Matterhorn (though you actually do see the tip!)."

"The staff at Alphitta were kind enough to open their wonderful establishment during the off-season to host our wedding reception. Tanja and Dave were incredible hosts who provided food and service beyond our expectations. Alphitta is an easy 10-minute walk from Gornergrat's Riffelalp station. The restaurant's new deck has absolutely one of the best views of the Matterhorn in Zermatt and the food is incredible! While we had a specially prepared menu for our reception and knew what we were getting, our guests couldn't stop complimenting the Alphitta team for the incredible food. This is absolutely high-end dining without the crazy prices - but with the best views in Zermatt in an incredible atmosphere! The music out on the deck is fantastic - and who can't resist the charm of the 125-year old restaurant's interior! The wine and beer list provides a lot of local options- the three that we tried were amazing.Many of our guests hiked up to Alphitta the next few days (it's only about a 90-minute walk up from Zermatt's village center) JUST to take-in that unforgettable view again! I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough- get to Zermatt and go to Alphitta for a meal and a great afternoon! We can't wait to get back!"

"We stayed at Chalet Hotel Schoenegg, Zermatt, the week 4-11th February with Inghams Holidays. We absolutely LOVED it! ❤️ The hotel is perfectly located above village with simply stupendous views of village and Matterhorn but literally just a three minutes walk from Sunnega lift station and Flexirent ski equipment rental. Staff in the hotel were absolutely delightful every single one of them in every dept - so friendly, welcoming and helpful (special thanks to Hosa in restaurant x) and the owner also ensured he spoke with all the guests each evening in the restaurant which was a very nice personal touch. Rooms very nice decor, extremely comfortable ( tea/ coffee facilities and dressing gowns and slippers included) immaculate and great views. The panoramic view from restaurant / dining room at breakfast and daytime was utterly spectacular and breathtaking. Watching the magnificent Matterhorn awake and present herself to the village she overlooks is a lasting memory. Indeed "A Room with a View" ( and for fans of The Night Manager, scenes were shot in the dining room here) we could have sat there all day admiring same but the snow conditions, pistes and skiing arena were just too fantastic! Breakfast buffet an amazing selection of hot & cold fare - cheeses and cold meats, smoked salmon, fresh fruit platters and melt in mouth mini croissants / pastries to name a few - even a glass of Prosecco if you wished!! Dinner was also 4 courses of delicious fare each night and the chef always happy to make alternatives for you if choices did not suit. And a lounge with roaring log fire or cosy bar to while away hours. And at the end of the day a divine little Spa area with jacuzzis, steam room, loungers and in house masseur to alleviate aching muscles - again with views to take your breath away. This hotel - its staff, location and incredible views, superlative standard of food and hospitality is a real stand out - we have walked in Zermatt before as well as first ski trip and definitely plan a return visit winter / summer in future. Cannot recommend highly enough - absolutely superlative. Also a visit to the village Museum is a must - amazing exhibits and history of Zermatt and mountaineering. We adore everything about Zermatt - Great To See You (again) !! Thank you Hotel Schoenegg - we will return! ❤️"

"We went to Viktoria three times in one week - twice for apres-ski drinks, once for a family dinner. The picture used by Trip Adviser is a little over-exposed and makes the restaurant look lighter than it is. The atmosphere is calm and intimate - candlelit and cosy. By Zermatt standards it is cheap - ie about 177 Swiss Francs for a dinner for four. Ouch, you say. Well, that's Zermatt! This place has a big heart and the cooking was excellent on the night we went, particularly with the fish: clams in prosecco, some sea bass and coquilles St Jacques with four fat scallops beautifully salted and buttery. The service was attentive but sweet. We were made to feel very much at home and had a happy evening. And the apricot-flavoured schnapps is ace, but perhaps it was as well not to have a refill."

"I ate my first raclette ever here tonight and I was happy to enjoy this Swiss Alp specialty of melted cheese wirh pickled onions, kohlrabi, cornichons, and carrots. The first bites were bliss! Kenny was pleased with his pizza with fresh mushrooms and ham. We each had a salad, beautifully prepared and delicious. We each took home 1/3 of our meals. 68 CHF or 55 Euro total including 3 delicious draft beers and a glass of mineral water. Price seems reasonable, considering that a hamburger everywhere in town is 25 francs and that we have a light meal for tomorrow in our takehome bag. We are pleased with our choice, which was unplanned!"

"The flower-bedecked outside tables of this cozy and cheerful little restaurant immediately greet you as you enter the tiny hamlet of Zmutt from the path that leads here from the Zmutt Dam. Whether you have walked up the little road from the Furi cable-car station or come the longer way on the wide path that starts in Zermatt near the Schwarzee cable-car station, you can rest your weary feet here with your back against the walls of centuries-old but still sturdy huts while delicious food quickly appears on the table in front of you. And while you drink in the views (such as the green hillside with the Matterhorn tip just peeking out over it,) you might want to sip a glass of Prosecco before selecting from the tasty dishes available (a surprisingly wide range of choices, given how much work it must take to get supplies up to this remote area.) Vegetarians, for example, will love the curried ginger soup and the ravioli in garlic sauce (there are also simple cheese dishes, rostis, and risottos, among other possibilities.) As well, we have eaten here a few times with a Zermatt resident who is not vegetarian, and he tells us that the meat in other dishes, such as liver, is both tasty and locally sourced. (He also pointed out that locals love to come here for both the beautiful walk and the enjoyable food, and many of us believe that it’s always a sign of good food and reasonable prices when a restaurant is consistently supported by locals, not just by one-time visiting tourists.) Service is friendly and quick, and I think the prices offer good value, whether you are ordering a complete meal or just a single home-made dessert or a scoop or two of cinnamon ice-cream. (Go for two scoops—this unusual flavour is delicious!) If you are visiting Zermatt for a day or two and you enjoy 2 hours or so of steady uphill walking (not too demanding and always scenic) with delicious food at the end of it, make sure you come here."

"recently I was visiting with my friend at the hotel cervo in restaurant puro. the look into the map was already the first experience. it offers everything for everyone and every situation, without it being undoubtedly pulled into the size.After consultation with the very attentive service, we decided for a surprise menu with whistle.In the cold appetizer, I would like to lift the gazpacho from the cherry with gambero rosso, which is a wonderful summer dish and has been tasted deliciously. a court which I had apparently not ordered myself, but therefore has turned around all the more!I recommend to all myself to make a picture. but both the mistkrazerli and the vernacular are a pleasure.Through a light sabayone our culinary evening was perfectly rounded off.For all cervo puro visitors I recommend the service to ask for a to share menu to try several things from the kitchen.
