"The staff at the restaurant was very friendly and helpful, however, the food itself was disappointing. I ordered a fish cake which was watery and lacked flavor. My partner had a steak and ale cake, but the steak was strange in texture and tasted overly sweet. The sauce seemed to be a mixture of BBQ sauce and dishwater. The appetizers we had, on the other hand, were enjoyable. I had the bread and cheese with a dip, which was delicious. My partner had the soup of the day, which seemed to have been microwaved but still tasted good."

"Birthday meal for 2 , really excellent food ,Pasta and burger, excellent service , we sat outside and there were just some signs of wear and tear that meant had to give 4 stars rather than 5 . we had not informed them was a birthday but the waitress overheard my grandson calling to wish me happy birthday while we were there. The manager came out to say happy birthday and gave me my dessert for free, what a thoughtful gesture and we will visit again soon as the food was so good !"

"the hospitality has been through a difficult time as we were covided and we had no Christmas dinner in the family last year, so we were ready to forgive completely. but we had a rather disappointing experience. we were not too sharp on the menu, as all choices for each of the courses (a few ftom roasting doors) seemed quite strange. we are a family of food, so we are open to new ideas, but we fought to find decisions that made appetit. none of us enjoyed our meal particularly disappointing were the risotto, like a mushy pea puree, the gammon, which came with sweet sose and sticky gray black pudding mash, the pana cotta, which a sick chocolate cucumber with no worries the frangipane tart, which was frown with hard baked and the breadd pudding. but the main disappointment was the lack of atmosphere and unstoppable service. drinks and appetizers were served immediately, but we waited for the old of our most important cure plates to be deleted, we were never asked if we wanted more drinks or coffee and did not make any comments about the dishes of uneaten eating. it wasn't even busy and we were the last table in the main room without seeing the personal. As a family Christmas dinner we would have let ourselves be lingered, but we were glad to go. they would suggest whether a pub will operate unusual menu options, make sure that the execution and service scratches. I'm sorry we can't be positiw."

"We visited the old forge on Wednesday 6/9/23 in the evening. Sadly the quality of the food was very poor. Two starters and two main courses. Starters, salt and pepper squid and chilli prawns. Chilli prawns were awful. Tasteless and four small prawns with a dolmio style cheap sauce poured over. Main courses, Blade Beef and Duck Stir Fry. Beef was over cooked and the mash potato was cold. Stir Fry wasn’t much better either. Duck over cooked and the stir fry sauce was possibly straight out of a jar. The staffing levels are a concern. Looked like only four members of staff covering the whole operation. There was one member of staff struggling covering all the tables. Finally the pub itself looks tired and knackered. The interior is very dated. Sorry but I wouldn’t recommend this pub."

"It is patently obvious from the attitude of a senior female staff member that this Inn Pub has no time for a casual drinker, when they are focussed solely on exploiting the lunchtime dining trade from the nearby Christmas Market. I get it that the pub is 'compact ', but arriving as a small group and having acquired our drinks, standing in the bar area (as you expect to do in an 'Inn ' we were asked in a voice higher than normal conversation to Move from the area. No reason, just an irritated tone. We asked where (as the space is very limited to where we should move, to be ignored with a blank, almost disinterested expression. We were not a horde of students lingering over half a fruit juice just mature gents enjoying a lunchtime pint (and meal, had the atmosphere been less frosty . We drank and left. The casual drinker is not welcome, at times where the pub is clearly looking to serve meals (at an increased profit only. A sound business model, but it does nothing for customer relations to be made unwelcome in this manner. Other patrons noticed and remarked on the abrupt nature of this female. If the pub has set its sights on being a dining establishment, then it should advertise as such. The seasonal Christmas Market lasts for only a couple of weeks the remainder of the year relies on local and passing trade. The pub would do well to remember that. The pub lost several potential meal and additional drink sales as a result of this unwelcoming attitude."

"excellent. worth the Michelin star. relaxing atmosphere with excellent service by very competent staff. to begin we had the spiced beef short rib and the crispy quail egg both were very good. for the net we had the poached half lobster this was excellent and three bohnen chili. we're done with the cheeseboard. all have washed out with a bottle of water and a few ports! we come back."

"This is our local pub and we have been many times, usually it’s okay.Was not happy at all visiting during ‘eat out to help out’. We came twice. First time the food was pretty poor, dry burgers and the parfait was not great. But the second, most recent time was the worst and we are really disappointed. We came in at 8:20 with a table booked for dinner and asked straight away if we could order. Took about 15 minutes just for a waiter to come back and serve us. We ordered starters and had said we wanted to order mains too but just wanted a second to look at the menu. The starters just one garlic bread and one crispy squid took 20 30 minutes to come (the restaurant was almost empty). By the time they came the waiter told us that the kitchen was closed and we couldn’t order mains. No warning, and no chance to order even though we had previously said we were interested in ordering before the kitchen had closed. After that it took about 20 more minutes just to get us the bill. Really disappointed as we are regulars but the service was abysmal and left us with no dinner and little apology at 9pm. Don’t think we’ll be going back anytime soon sadly."

"beautiful place, great atmosphere, great eating, friendly staff. everything we had was beautiful. (I had the ruck hühnerburger, who was a daily special, but I hope they put it on the new menu! they have a great choice of gin and other ghosts. they are also dog and child-friendly. we will definitely come back. I think we found our new favorite place! Apparently they also make takeaway/delivery so that we can order from here if we like a takeaway."

"Lovely food I met with some old friends yesterday we went for lunch. Then we were all going to have a cake drinks to our disappointment they had cleared the cakes away without asking us if we might like a cake I asked are you closing? The answer was no which was a surprise as all the cakes were away. If anyone who went in could probably only get a drink. So it was Silver Springs loss as we all went over to Garstons had cake drinks and there was no hurry to ask us to leave and there was plenty to choose from.. So we will make sure if we go a next time to Silver Springs that is if we go again ? To order our cake with our lunch it was only 2.45 when they put the cakes away."

"I was disappointed with my experience at this restaurant. I ordered a beef burger but was served one that was raw in the middle. The lighting in the restaurant was so dim that I had already taken a few bites before realizing the problem and sending it back. The manager explained that they have a policy of serving burgers "pink," which doesn't leave much room for error if the chef doesn't cook it properly. A simple check with a food thermometer would have shown that the meat was undercooked and unsafe to eat. Although they reheated my food to cook the meat, I no longer had confidence in their chef's ability to adhere to hygiene and food safety standards."

"Stopped for lunch with family ordered 6 meals and drinks. Including: 3 x ultimate burgers , nothing ultimate about them.Flat looking burnt burgers and raw bacon. When we showed the waitress they were burnt she advised this was searing ! Showed how hard they were...by knocking on the seared burger with a knife that couldn't cut it we got offered a drink as compensasion maybe this was to soak the burger so it could be chewed. To top these meals off they had so much burger sauce in an attempt to hide the burnt burger it was un edible. Chips over cooked along with onion rings in old oil. The chicken strips ordered tasted like they had been deep fried in old oil along with the above it all tasted the same. This wasn't a good thing. Finally the pizza ordered at the same time as the over done food came out 10 mins later than the rest and this was undercooked to perfection..raw sour dough pizza lovely. Worst wetherspoons ever visited and ridiculous excuses when we questioned the burnt food.. Still we had an extra drink to wash it down. Wouldn't recommend or revisit."

"that is surely the best restaurant in the country! "as a native I can say his polite and most welcoming filials circle everywhere in the southern, and ive was to some. "We planned to visit here today to get some breakfast, and, being Covid aware, we checked the website to see if booking was mandatory. The website directed us to their Facebook page. No booking required. We turned up and scanned in, then waited a short while for a member of staff. The staff member asked if we had a booking, I said no, I didn’t think one was required. He said ordinarily it is not, but they are only serving pre-booked customers today due to staff absences, and we were turned away. I understand their predicament, but am frustrated that there was no sign on the door explaining or an update on their facebook page. I value service above all other things, and feel their service today was poor."

"We visited The Old Forge with our granddaughter and had a truly wonderful experience. We were warmly welcomed by very smiley staff, were delighted to see the largest list of teas ever and were almost overwhelmed with the choice of cakes which were sublime! I 'm always a bit wary of the last slice as there is always a risk it will be a wee bit dry not at The Old Forge! The two cakes we had tasted like they 'd only just cooled. It 's definitely worth mentioning that of the 8 10 freshly baked cakes we saw, at least four were gluten free AND properly stored under their own domes to avoid cross contamination. Well done to the owners, this place is just faultless and lovely."

"after we weren't at this place before we thought we would try. it was busy, but was immediately served with a young man with glasses that was very professional and polite. we order beverages and fish and chips for my own and ham eggs and chips for my partner, but we were told there were half an hour waiting for food that was nice to say but that was good. Only 15 minutes went by when our food went past the fish and chips beautiful and fresh and tasty and piping hot and my partners were the same. two empty tellers at the end and with change of £20 we were 2 happy well fed customers will definitely be back."

"I had a disappointing experience with the fish and chips here. The batter was bland and soggy, even though it was freshly made. Charging £5 for just a battered sausage is absurd. They also charged cod prices for hake, which seems unfair. Honestly, I've had better fish and chips from some of the least reputable places in Glasgow. The girl at the counter was quite arrogant, too. I wouldn't recommend the tartar sauce, which costs an additional £1.20; it lacked flavor and was basically just glorified mayonnaise. Anyone who thinks this place is good clearly hasn’t experienced a quality fish supper before."

"I came across an article that recommended The Dolphin Inn as a fantastic spot for gluten-free and coeliac diners. With this in mind, I decided to make a reservation for my daughter's 13th birthday celebration. Upon our arrival, we were warmly welcomed by Bethany who escorted us to our table and went over the menu options with us. Knowing that my daughter has coeliac disease, Bethany mentioned that it was a pizza and pasta night but also assured us that she could check the main menu for suitable options. She inquired about water for the table and took our drink orders, pointing out the mocktail list which my daughters were excited about. I asked if the cake my eldest daughter had made could be brought out with the candles I provided, and Bethany graciously agreed to add her own artistic touch with the candles. We placed our food orders and were thoroughly pleased with the meal. The pasta dishes were superb, while those who opted for the non-gluten-free pizzas thoroughly enjoyed them. My daughter chose the Hunter Burger, which was juicy, tender, and flavorful. We also ordered some gluten-free fries that were cooked in a separate fryer and tasted delicious. When we finished our meal, I requested the cake and Bethany promptly brought it out, singing along and providing plates, forks, and napkins. She truly went above and beyond to make our evening special and ensure that my daughter felt safe dining at The Dolphin Inn. I am grateful for the outstanding hospitality and kindness shown to us, with special appreciation for Bethany. Thank you for a wonderful experience."
