"I went to see a show at a nearby theatre, and called in for a quick pint whilst I waited for a taxi home. The pub was fairly busy, but there were three girls serving behind the bar. I waited and waited, and it was quite obvious that people were pushing in front of me, but the staff seemed clueless as to who they should serve next. At one point, one of the girls shouted “is anyone waiting” and I shouted “ yes please” and then she looked at me, and then served someone else who had just arrived at the bar! Finally a girl was heading towards me, and said “who’s next” just as another couple arrived at the bar. The couple went to place their order and that’s when I jumped in and said hold on, I’ve been waiting ages. The couple and the barmaid just stared at me as if I had arrived from another planet. I was then tersely asked what I wanted, and then huffily served my drink without a smile or a thank you. I was one of the older people in the bar, and I can only assume that the staff were giving their mates priority, but I found the whole experience very humiliating, and very disappointing. Out of the three girls, only one seemed to know how to smile. The other two were robotic, and clearly not happy in their job. There was also a total lack of anyone in charge, which maybe explains the shoddy service. I have been using this pub for many years with my family for drinks and food, but based on this experience, I won’t be returning any time soon."
