"I am writing this review honestly and straight to the point, because I do not give negative reviews lightly. The only positive thing about this restaurant is that my Diet Coke came in a bottle. I ordered the chicken satay and when it arrived, it was overcooked and difficult to cut through. I struggled to remove the tough crust and the chicken itself was tasteless and dry. The knife provided was dirty and the table was not properly cleaned or replaced. After this disappointing experience, I have no plans to return. It is unacceptable to serve such low quality food to customers. Freshly cooked chicken should not be hard to come by. Perhaps the restaurant's all-you-can-eat policy leads to subpar cooking and service. It is a disgrace that serving freshly cooked food is seen as inconvenient."

"My partner and I visited this restaurant for the first time and were greeted by a friendly staff member. Our order was taken by another waitress and the atmosphere was very enjoyable. The food was delicious and reasonably priced, and we were able to swap and substitute items that we did not want. We will definitely be coming back to this restaurant again. "The food is cooked well and the staff are very friendly. I think the food is definitely overpriced for what you get especially with the pasta dishes. The restaurant is a nice atmosphere and is clean however it has not been looked after it seems due to a badly torn bench cushion which has been like it for a very long time. Would recommend for someone who has not been before. Edit* Went another time for a birthday with over 20 people, preordered food and everything came out promptly and cooked well. Staff were great and very attentive gone from 3 to 5 stars for such a great performance"

"Family visit for Sunday lunch and not disappointed. The prawn cocktail starters were amongst the best we have ever had. Good size prawns with fresh crunchy salad and a pleasant dressing. Ended up sharing one! Then came the roasts, some 2 meat rib of beef and chicken, some just beef or chicken. Gammon also available. Beautifully presented, large portions topped with parsnip strips, with roast and new potatoes, cabbage laced with bacon, fresh mashed swede, cheesed cauliflower and of course a large yorkshire! Nice touch of extra gravy jug with each plate. Wow took some eating and delicious. Service was welcoming, friendly and efficient. Good selection of beers on tap. Clean fresh gents! Plenty of on site parking. Lacking a little in ambience but a great pub with obviously an excellent chef, we will revisit."

"Came for Christmas Day lunch, was lovely, only 1 sitting, none of the 2 hour time slot here, then gotta leave , arrived at 12.30 to a busy pub but the atmosphere was great, after all it is a local pub so expect it to be busy, given our table and had a drink before the food arrived, wow lovely bread and the best olive oil dip we have had, glass of prosecco, crackers, the starters, main course then pudding, food lovely and hot although we did miss out on pigs in blankets but hey ho not a major, for me the dessert was the best, who knew that Christmas cake, honey and Stilton could be such a game changer ? even had some to take home as couldn’t fit it all in including mince pies and coffee. Left at 15.30, Big shout out to the lovely landlady Lisa and all her wonderful staff who gave up a big portion of their own Christmas to make ours special. Thankyou and hopefully see you this year for Christmas Day again."

"Before Lockdown my friend and I visited The Pheasant for lunch once a month. We always found the staff to be friendly and helpful. The meals were always of the highest standard. On Saturday, 1st August 2020, we returned. I had previously telephoned to ensure...they were open. I believe I spoke with the owner Mr. Guy who assured me as all Social Distancing requirements were being met, they were “up and running”. I booked a table for the above mentioned date. On arrival, we dithered a little as to whether to eat in or out, but decided to eat inside. The service and the meal were of the high standard we had always experienced, the staff as polite and helpful. We felt completely SAFE. The pub had been refurbished during Lockdown. Very nice too. It was a real pleasure to be back. We have booked for Christmas! I think that says it all. So thank you all at The Pheasant. See you in September."

"The staff were were very polite and friendly. The view of the water was nice. The food was very poor. It was presented really nice but then when I started to eat I discovered- I had a grilled chicken breast burger what came with chips , coleslaw , a few lettuce leaves and onion rings. The chips were the chunky ones. They were so so dry. The chicken breast was so overcooked and like it had been nuked to death. It still had they white slime on it. I had to put coleslaw on the batch or it would have been too dry to eat. The onion rings, 2 of them were had onion skin in them not rings of onion. The bacon was nice. The cheese was a no show Coleslaw was okay. I had a flat white coffee that was really nice. Overall very overpriced for poor food."

"Three of us had an early dinner here on Thursday and, well I was honestly underwhelmed. Charged 80p for each pickle dip accompanying the poppadoms, x6 chicken wings on the menu had become x3 but price was the same, Babu served us and it felt like he didn 't want us there but whatever, had worse, had much better. My comment here Babu would be you are in the hospitality business, have a run at being hospitable! My friend asked if the meat was Halal, we buy from cash and carry, it says Hala on the label. Makf that what you will . Was the response. I sincerely hope the take away delivery side is on fire cos I won 't be beating a path back there a d my friends were less than impressed. I couldn 't eat the bahjees undercooked, oily and told Babu this. A drug of 5he shoulders said it all from his perspective. No discussion on how he could address my comments, the Biyrianni wasn 't exactly hot either but I hope that this was an isolated issue and they were having a bad night. Listen, I can only tell you my experience and would encourage you to make your own minds up and try it for yourselves but don 't say you weren 't warned. "Ordered from curry cottage for me and my family and it was a huge order so i thought they would definitely make a mistake but curry cottage did it again with the perfection and the lovely customer service provided over the telephone. They had it delivered to me in less than an hour which was shocking especially for a £75 order which was amazing. To be honest, looking at the reviews which were placed on TripAdvisor in 2018 and also in 2019 for curry cottage was shocking because i have ordered most of the items on the menu and none of them were terrible and especially as some say 'inedible '. However i would like to conclude this review with a positive comment, Curry Cottage keep up the good work and you 'll be seeing me around more often! Joseph"

"Decided to give this place another chance after a previous poor meal but others have recommended it. Booked a festive menu for Christmas Eve and paid a deposit. Upon arrival (early afternoon and the restaurant was empty) we were told they had run out of...festive menu, and we should have reserved one with a deposit. I explained that I had paid a deposit but was then told this had not reserved the festive menu? Decided to make the most of it as we were very unlikely to get in anywhere else at this late stage. However, the first dishes we tried to order they had run out of. Wanted to go out for a roast dinner, ended up having a (not very good) steak (without any sauce as they had run out of that too… When my steak arrived, it clearly hadn’t been rested, as my plate was swimming in blood. However the steak was also cold, so I have no idea how they managed to serve a cold steak which hadn’t been rested? The lady who served us was extremely apologetic, but I must admit that despite her best efforts, we will not be back."

"this place discovered and stopped to breakfast, immaculately clean, friendly staff, well known place, but unfortunately eating was a massive one for us. Two of us ordered full English and asked that bacon be well made. eating came quickly and definitiw precooked and kept hot...in dishes? speckfett was white, my sausages light brown my man pale, my eggs looked good until I cut into them .one was fit the other raw clear egg. mushrooms boiled and tasteless. I'm sorry to say, I'm not going back. did not want to complain when only two very young girls were serving and did not want to upset them when they were so friendly. No one came by to ask how this was eating, so we left over half of the breakfast and left the space."

"We were very disappointed with our recent experience at this restaurant. It used to be our go-to place for takeout, as we don't typically eat fast food. However, our last visit about 3 months ago was not up to par. We decided to give it another try tonight. The chips were good, the fish was tasty but a bit greasy, and the mushy peas were okay. Unfortunately, the curry sauce was terrible and nothing like what we had enjoyed before. The staff seemed disinterested, as we had to ask twice for a pickled onion that was eventually left out of our order. On a previous visit, we had requested a pickled onion and received a pickled egg instead. Overall, we may think twice about returning to this restaurant, even though it is conveniently close to our home."

"We ate dinner here on New Year’s Eve with myself, husband and 2 daughters. The pub was busy but we were sat in the back restaurant, so it was cosy. We were welcomed from a manager saying “welcome to the mad house”……this says it all really! If you are gluten free then this absolutely is not the restaurant for you. There is no separate menu or indication of what you can eat off any menu. I was simply handed over a tablet and had to figure it out! Took a good 15 minutes for me and my husband to suss out what menu was what etc. Unfortunately there were only 3 gluten free mains and the one I wanted had sold out! Thankfully they managed to find me an alternative steak in the kitchen. Service was very slap dash I enquired about a straw for my drink as it hadn’t been mixed properly. I was told they don’t have straws at this pub and then 5 minutes later the same waitress, who informed me of this, carried a tray of drinks to our neighbouring table with straws in the drinks very bizarre. It took a good 45 minutes for our mains to arrive, but no one had cleared our starter plates when the mains arrived. All very amateur. My daughter had a burger and commented on how bad it was she’s only 10! My husband was the only one that had a pudding as I really couldn’t be going through the gluten free tablet again to figure out what I could eat! Unfortunately his pudding was barely lukewarm. We’d given up hope by then, asked for the bill and left £130 lighter! Extortionate price for a very bland experience! We paid only £30 more than this to eat out at the Ivy a few weeks ago and obviously this was an enormously far superior dining experience! I’d avoid this place and spend your money elsewhere. Definitely won’t be retuning, which is such a shame as the building is beautiful. It’s a very badly run chain pub with what seems lack of attention from staff or management. Food was not worth the prices at all."

"Small selection and the usual ie curry, burger chili. Ordered 2 power supplies and a starter all come at the same time. Partner jacket potato came 10 minutes before my starter of flower flowers wing (they were ok but a brake product) I ordered a burger and placed 25 minutes after the jacket, the btw was already cold. This pub is really not suitable for vegan food, they do a flourishing store of stack it high and sell it cheap meat and everything else they fall apart. If you want a coffee, it is from a pre-programmed machine so something apart from latte, cappuccino etc., then the computer says no. My burger came with chips and a side salad... Side salad was a 1/2 tomato and the chips were boiled in bad oil and dry like hell. Updated by previous rating on 2022-05-25"

"I was enticed with a 25% off food voucher for downloading the App. There was a family group of 7, celebrating my birthday and I was paying the entire bill alone. I paid the bill, and only once we left, I remembered the voucher. I returned and asked for the payment to be credited and re processed with the 25% off of Main Meals discount. I was told that the manager said, 'No, and suggested that I could use the voucher for my next visit '. This was a special occasion, a group of 7, including my son and grandchildren, not to be repeated anytime soon. Very disappointed with the customer service."

"sat on tgif after we hunted a tonne of places where we could get a table for silvester. we have a reservation for approx. 10:30 and when we knew it was a late night, we were in order. we reached about 10 minutes early and we have a table. When we came in, we saw that each of the workers was dressed in funky cartoons costumes. diverse enough, captain jack sparrow was our host I must say has taken care of us, although it was silvester. we had someone with us who had been in this box so he knew what to order, and I must say, almost everything on the menu was perfect! we started with afteros with cheese and smoked chicken, which was amazing and a hen fried in jack daniels sauce. my friends ordered the porridges, bruce lee burger and I went for the classic cheeseburger. my only recommendation would be that the burger meat is cooked according to our preference. I asked that the meat is moderately rare, but I was told that the meat is all well done. did not like the sound of the sound as if it were all precooked. in any case, we were grateful that we have a nice place to enjoy the beginning of the new years where the fireworks were on screens and everyone was in festive mood. great experience, would go back to deffos."
