"Came in for some lunch as we came in before and had a nice meal with some small issues but overlooked it due to all the reviews I thought maybe they were having a bad day on the last visit we came. We came in and ordered two colas (draft) it went from the wrong order been brought to being told sorry we have to fix the gas which wasn’t an issue as we happily waited then to be told no it’s not getting fixed now (no idea why) you’ll have to pick something else so two cans of cola later we finally got a drink (20 minutes or so) my wife is a bar manger and knows a thing or two regarding changing the syrups for cola and other drinks so I think our diet cola to begin with wasn’t a mistake they just didn’t want to change the syrup since we asked for normal cola. Our starters came they were nice then the mains came .. my was okay chicken seemed a bit fatty and processed for the price your paying. My wife’s macaroni however came in a Tiny dish it was a full portion as I asked a member of staff is this the FULL portion and not the “wee” one to be told yes it came with chips so it’s the full portion. When leaving we asked to see the recipe turns out it’s £4 for the small silver dish of chips on the plate to make your tiny macaroni a “FULL” portion to top everything off it’s £2.50 per can of cola when we didn’t order that in the first place ? And had to get it because of your mistakes and waited a long time for you to sort it. Personally as someone who works with public in a similar environment I think the least they could’ve done was not charge full price for there mistakes! I don’t think it’s very fair on customers to be paying full price for your mistakes. I’m afraid I won’t be back there’s lots of nice restaurants now of days and customer service goes along way!"

"Popped in for a coffee this afternoon, kind of wish I hadn 't. I asked for a Flat White, my freind had a Delux Cappuccino . We also asked about cakes. Both of us opted for the Apple Pie with Ice Cream. To say I was disappointed is a bit of an understatement. The pie was flat and soggy and to be honest wasn 't the best tasting apple pie. The ice cream was a single scoop of cheap Raspberry Ripple, the kind of cheap, nasty stuff I would have gotten as part of a primary school dinner some point in the late 1980 's. The pie arrived 1st then the coffee 's a minute or so later. We didn 't get any cutlery with the pie but assumed some would be brought over with the coffees... No. All we had was the teaspoon that came with the coffee, no decent sized spoon of fork and no napkin either (other tables had cutlery and napkins). My Flat White wasn 't really all that good, it was essentialy just a Latte and even then, the coffee wasn 't that decent. My freinds delux cappuccino was supposed to come with cream, marshmallows and a flake, I saw no evidence of the flake (unless it had sunk and dissolved), just extra dusted chocolate, a tiny bit of squirty cream and some very small marshmallows I wouldn 't say it looked delux Final point of annoyance was the price. £11.50 for 2 mediocre coffees and 2 worse than mediocre Apple Pies. Also they only take Cash! Not great in a post covid environment where every other business under the sun is trying to use contactless payments to reduce the chances of infection. Given the location and the competition, I would expect this place to be better. I was there a number of years ago and got decent coffee and a really nice slice of cake. Since then it has been remodelled and I believe changed owners. Even still, with a Costa next door, a restaurant/pub behind them, another coffee shop accross the street and several kiosk icecream/coffee/doughnut or chip shops all within 50yrds they really need to pick up their game. Prime position right on the prominade of a busy sea side town. I suppose they may be trying to get quantity over quality...? The only posative I can find is that the 2 x young women who were serving seemed pleasant and freindly, but that can 't make up for the poor quality products that were not worth the money being charged. I went there today largely because I enjoyed what I had the last time and would rather give my money to a local business rather than massive corporation like Costa but to be honest, I don 't think I will be back there any time soon."

"This is a place I loved to come to for the great atmosphere, food and service. That was a couple of years ago. In 2023 great new interior, but that's were it stops, young staff who chat more to each other, do not listen when taking orders, generally get it wrong, a simple request for water and ice becomes rocket science. Staff are distant, sometimes rude and arrogant, they look like they hate their job. I complained to head office and received a standard email response from the General Manager at Scotts which was an insult, it's obvious they don't care and especially the quality of food. I previously booked requesting a booth this month, when I arrived with my wife and daughter we were seated at a table, no mention of reserved booth or apology that it was not available. Ordering a desert is the luck of the draw as they have forgotten twice in the last five visits. When your waiting an hour for food, they use to bring you some bread and butter while you waited, not anymore. When they did provide you with water and ice in the past, they would pour the water into your glasses and offer to refill, not anymore. I was at Scott's Largs this month and booked under 40% promotional discount, when I went to the counter to pay my bill they issued me a receipt with full price, when I pointed out error to young lad, he just crushed up receipt, threw it in the bin and processed bill with correct 40% discount, no apology. A young lad who came over with our drinks, threw down the coasters on table in an arrogant manner. A restaurant requires a level of etiquette and approach to good customer service, sometimes it requires a level of maturity and life experience. In previous years at Scott's Largs the older mature staff could give the younger ones a run for their money and show how it's done in a courteous and professional manner. With a lot of horrendous reviews here, there is obviously an issue with the general manager and chef? A simple tip, organise and control the waiting staff by offering better training including manners, find a chef who can cook and pay them a decent salary. With a lot of horrendous reviews, there can only be one person responsible, the General Manager? I would never go back again to Scott's, it's passed its sell by date in all categories, such a shame. Especially with the benefits card which is a great rewards scheme with regular discounts, but that's not enough to encourage me to return. There was a local restaurant in my area which faced the same criticism in service and food, they brought in a new manager and chef and what a transformation, the service and food is now excellent. As I said it's not rocket science in the restaurant industry."
