"3 of us went for dinner at stripped the night before my wedding. From the moment we walked in the service was impeccable, we all had different beers from the wide selection available whilst deciding what to order to eat. After a long debate we all decided to go for the special bbq smash burger (I think that’s what it was called) with 2x crab mayo fries and 1x fusion fries on the sides. The burger was without a doubt the best burger I’ve ever had (I’ve had many a burger over the years) it was so good, cooked to perfection. The fries were also amazing. 100% best burger you’ll find on the island! Thanks to all the staff for a brilliant experience…..we will be back! Unfortunately I was enjoying the food so much I forgot to take any pictures."

"We visited the Waverley Inn this past Sunday for a family dinner, there were 6 children and 3 adults. Several of us had roasts, and a few of the kids had the kids menu meal. I have to say, every single thing was sooooo tasty. I had gammon, which was the nicest gammon I've ever eaten, my partner had the lamb which was also delicious, the kids meals were tasty too and priced at an appropriate level. The service was perfect, from the friendly and helpful bar staff to the lovely chef who chatted to us about their method for preparing the gammon, and who was also happy to help us at the table, he was amazing! Finally, the puddings were also really nice and there were quite a few to choose from, I had a delicious rhubarb crumble! All in all, I can't wait to go back and would heartily recommend visiting!"

"We were initially just popping in for a drink in the sun but as soon as I walked in and smelt the roast dinners I began debating lunch too. Then I saw some roasts being brought out and that was it decision made. We were having lunch too! The Food is outstanding and staff were super friendly and attentive. I really cannot fault the service, the location, the facilities or the staff. I had such a lovely afternoon sat in the sun listening to the live music and watching the fish and trout in the stream and I have no reservation in recommending this place to everyone ."

"We visited for a lunch in the beautiful upstairs dining room. The staff were very friendly and polite and their attention to detail was fantastic. We had the fish of the day which was monkfish, a very generous portion cooked on the bone. It was a beautiful piece of fish cooked to perfection and served with broccoli and buttered potatoes. Our starters were superb and the whitebait was crispy and delicious as was a beautifully crafted crab salad with charred grapefruit. The crowning glory was the dessert of jelly with cucumber sorbet, just the most perfect dessert which felt like eating a Pimms. One of the cleverest desserts I’ve seen in a long time. My dessert was the chocolate and banana dessert, it was rich and indulgent and sates that sweet hit at the end of a meal. If visiting Yarmouth do not pass up a chance to eat here. Incredible food and amazing hospitality from the staff! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5"

"We visited the gardens yesterday and decided to have a much needed lunch at the Edulis restaurant. The restaurant itself is pleasantly presented and in a lovely setting. However after sitting down we noticed the crockery and glasses were marked/dirty and perhaps we should have taken this as a hint of what was to come. Three of us ordered the soup and the other a sandwich which came with wedges. After ordering, paying and sitting down, a good 5 mins or so later we were subsequently told that actually there was no soup available and they shouldn’t have processed our order. We ordered sandwiches instead and weren’t charged for the small extra cost. Our sandwiches arrived minus the advertised wedges. The waiter said nothing and was about to walk away when we queried the absence of the wedges. He responded that there were none available and they had been substituted with crisps. A few measly crisps and a rather bland cheese and tomato sandwich I have to say. We vowed not to return, but just when we thought it couldn’t get any worse a large tray of potatoes was brought in from the kitchen and one of the servers proceeded to start chopping them up in front of us presumably to make wedges!! The toilets were smelly and not very pleasant and we noticed the glazing in the lobby areas was absolutely filthy. A very disappointing experience that we will not be repeating. Such a shame as this could be a lovely restaurant if someone actually bothered to care and respect their customers. Instead it appears to be a complete shambles where custom is taken for granted as they effectively have a captive audience. Next time we’ll be taking our own sandwiches and finding a nice place to sit in the gardens. I’m local so will be spreading the word. Simply not good enough!!!"

"We came a couple of times for breakfast during our short trip to the Isle of Wight as our hotel did not do breakfast and the options in Ryde seemed limited. We came early (around 09.00am) and found that when we arrived both times we were one of the first ones there. The food both times was very good, with large portions. I loved the sausages. Small children not that keen but probably because they are fresh and not over cooked, so children are more used to processed food. The children loved the rest of the breakfast, hence the second visit. It did take a while for food to come (maybe half an hour each time) , so I can see if you came later you would have a longer wait as per the other reviews. It is though a farm establishment, so I think you have to take that into consideration and come here if you are flexible on time. Kid loved the calves that can be petted outside the cafe. Service the first time was a little binary. We had a fussy eater and wanted tp vary the option and that didn't seem to go down too well. Second time, different waitress, and no bother and we didn't feel like we were being a pain (even if we were). A good find, and by far the best option in the area"

"Great food choices in this family run pub , near Carisbrooke castle Isle of Wight . Service was good and pretty friendly, food was reasonably priced well cooked. Prices were reasonable small portions options available on most . Specials board offered even more tempting choices, something for everyone even vegans!! Good size garden to the rear , with kids play area , and another indoors so all families all catered for . Generally busy all week, so says a lot for the pub ."

"I have been to this restaurant twice in the last month and both visits were perfect. The first was with a friend on a Tuesday early evening and the second was a large family gathering on a busy Saturday night. The atmosphere is cozy and reminiscent of a traditional English pub, with lots of antiques and interesting items to admire while enjoying your meal or drink. The staff were attentive and polite, the service was prompt, and all of the meals were delicious and generously portioned. I highly recommend this place for a classic English pub-restaurant experience."

"We visited on the first day of our holiday and were made to feel very welcome. The girl on the bar said we could sit anywhere and was very pleasant. Unfortunately our second visit was far less welcoming. We walked in and heard the young lad on the bar say to his colleague, They 're not sitting in here r they? We were then told that as we were only having drinks we had to sit on the ten seater table tucked away behind the bar. There were only 5 of us. Two other men had been having just drinks in the area we walked in. The pub was very quiet and we couldn 't see anybody eating. We won 't be returning."

"It was getting near to 2.00 p.m. but I was allowed to order a light bite, which arrived quickly. A very tasty panini the salad was a cut above the average, and lots of subtle tastes within what, on paper, would have been very ordinary. Service was friendly and helpful, the atosphere was good. I had avoided this place before as I thought it was called Snails which I found offputtting. Now I am on the right track and I hope to be back. I hadn 't realised the cafe started to pack up from 2.00 pm. the owner assured me I did not need to hurry, but as he said this several times I wondered if it was a very tactful way of asking me to get a move on!"

"My wife and I dined at this restaurant last Wednesday evening on the 13th of September. We were warmly welcomed and given time to peruse the menu, which had a fantastic variety of dishes. We decided on a set menu for two, which was absolutely delicious. The food was cooked to perfection and beautifully presented. Furthermore, the owner, along with his young waitress and waiter, were very friendly and attentive. They even asked if we wanted to take our time before selecting a dessert. My only regret is that we live on the mainland and won't be able to visit this amazing restaurant again soon."

"The food at this restaurant was amazing! We tried a variety of dishes such as the chicken burger, peri peri chicken, Mac n cheese, and gammon, all of which were cooked perfectly. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the prices were very reasonable. The only suggestion for improvement is the interior design, but we understand that there has been a recent change of ownership and this may take some time. Overall, we highly recommend this place and encourage others to support their local pub. Fantastic experience!"

"This restaurant is a rare find open for lunch on a Monday afternoon. We were trying to reach the Needles, but the roads were closed. After driving aimlessly and feeling hungry, we stumbled upon this place just in time before the kitchen closed. A kind waiter quickly sat us at an outdoor table, took our order, and served our drinks. His friendly demeanor helped ease our stress. We all ordered the crab sandwiches, which were served promptly and were delicious with generous portions of fresh crab filling. The interior decor was pleasing and the restrooms were clean. The staff even provided us with detailed directions to navigate the road closures to reach our destination. Highly recommended."

Appalling service, lazy distracted staff all totally disorganised Arrogant unapolagetic management will soon learn that customers vote with their feet. Will not go there until they change hands again Such a shame, the last owners had built up a brilliant reputation over years of hard work for really good freshly made vegan food. "Went to the IOW on business and had a 6.15 ferry from Lymington so a 4.30 start in London...on arrival in Yarmouth I really needed a light breakfast and cup of Tea. As I was early I walked into the The George Hotel opposite PO41 (they open at 7.30 for a walk in breakfast. On hearing the £30 charge they offered to me (obviously do not need or want the money and as a hotel i am assuming they are doing breakfast?? I decided to wait for PO41 to open. What a great decision. It must be one of the only places to open early as there was a stream of people waiting to be served. I only had Tea and a croissant at that point but was exactly what i needed to get me going. On my return to Yarmouth i went back in and got a Sandwich and another Tea for the Ferry. Excellent staff, very attentive and looked a good team. Great selection of cakes, sandwiches etc, and a small area to sit if you need. Give these people your money."

"Located at the far end of Shanklin seafront, below the Chines, this restaurant was a hidden gem. We went for dinner and enjoyed the lovely food and atmosphere. I started with the Goats cheese and had Seafood spaghetti for my main, while my wife had Tiger prawns followed by fish & chips. All of the dishes were delicious. The restaurant was able to accommodate our pram, and the changing facilities were convenient. Overall, we would recommend this restaurant."

"We have used this place since the 90s and we had our local friends group there for Christmas Dinner here 2022. My husband had a message pop up advertising £25 for 2 drink 2 meals and urged us to go down. I urged him to phone and check, was told 'yes I 'm sure that 's everything on the menue ' booked tonight (wed) and went down. Was taken to the outside (slightly outdated) dining room for the meal despite offering the bar area, reason we did that was because waitress was already muttering 'can 't do 6 things at once ' in front of us. We sat and when someone (not waitress) asked our order we ordered drinks and asked if everything was actually on the 2 for £25 deal (again) server said he would check. Server came back with a word document with what was/wasn 't on deal not massively impressive given the FB promo. We felt a bit embarrassed at this point as he 'd been gone a while. Ordered 2 beyond burgers checked fries were on the menu as all the word doc. said was 'beyond burger ' and previously its come with different chips due to no meat contamination. 45mins later food came (this is a 1/2 empty room I can 't call it a restaurant). Waitress literally dropped plates and shot off. I flagged her to ask for another drink, she left and we looked at burgers that looked quite greasy and had cheese on. Bearing in mind we have ordered and had these burgers before which are advertised as vegan we were surprised at cheese. Couldn 't check menu as we were just shown a hasty word doc. When the waitress returned with drinks we asked her what these burgers were, she came back saying meat; we asked to cancel order as expecting vegan. Male server came back v defensive and quite patronising 'they are meant to look like meat it 's veggie hence the cheese vegetarians can eat cheese '. Then went. At this point we were both embarrassed and upset; hadn 't been asked if we needed any extra sauces/sides. Had to wait a further 5 mins before someone else appeared to say we would just pay for drinks and leave food. £23 spent for drinks and poor service. As we left the restaurant the glass collector who took our plates was very verbal into the kitchen 'look they 've not touched it ' and the male server was seemingly angry when we went to the bar to pay for drinks. The barman that served was very polite which shows its not all lost but the service was poor and its put us off as locals which is a real shame."
