"As residents of Harrogate, my partner I have been going to Lilly’s now for quite sometime, as we like to support our local businesses. But also we always enjoy their food, however, after the last couple of recent visits, we’ve found the service in this place is really letting it down badly, especially by the man behind the counter who ‘appears’ to be in charge! I’ve found him to be exceptionally rude, unhelpful his reluctance to accept that he’d got my partner’s order wrong, was just appalling! He doesn’t even use a notepad, or look at you he’s not English, so he’s not particularly easy to communicate with especially as I’m hard of hearing! They never seem to have many staff on the cafe is usually busy. The lovely lady who makes all of Lilly’s delicious food, came out to see us. As regulars we’d got to know her, and she apologised for the ‘misunderstanding’. I pointed out that if our order had been written down, it may not have happened. Like many places, Harrogate is struggling to stay alive at the moment many shops are closing down for one reason or another. If Lilly’s is to survive, then this man needs to totally reconsider his customer care skills, or find another job which would make him happy, as he’s always so miserable, plus he’s never wrong!! I’m sure it must put the customers off their food! There’s a lot of competition out there he’s not helping! The food is always nice prices are reasonable, but Mr Sourpuss is curdling the cream!!"

"Called in here after a walk around Fewston reservoir, and it was fantastic. It looks great from the outside and doesn't disappoint inside, it's a proper pub. I was fascinated by the history and the ladies behind the bar were knowledgeable about it. The original 18th century part is well maintained and large extension to the rear is well within keeping of the original style. There are some fantastic old photos on the wall too, well worth a look. Called in with my young family and the staff were really friendly and accommodating for my young family. The menu is perfect, exactly what you'd want from a British Pub, not trying to be anything it isn't and missing the mark but doing good British pub food. It delivered too! Food arrived quickly which was helpful with impatient little ones. The steak pie was incredible, big portion, full of tender meat and rich gravy. My wife had fish cakes which she said were really good, and kids were happy with theirs. Nice choice of beers too, Timothy Taylor's enough said, went perfectly with steak pie. It was also really pleasantly surprising in a pub like this to have such forward thinking baby changing options; separate toilet just for this, with creams, wipes etc provided in case you didn't have your own. Left very satisfied and looking forward to returning soon. Well done to all staff, and don't change or lose the fantastic identify and product you have that so many others don't."
