"There 's no reason why a Pan Asian restaurant located in a fairly remote Cumbrian valley shouldn 't work. But everything at Mizu proved me wrong. I 'm no expert with this cuisine, but I can recognise taste or, in this case, the lack of, therein. I have to say, the restaurant is beautiful, and in a stunning location so hopes were high. 15 minutes after ordering our 2 drinks there was still no sign of them. I counted only 13 diners in, with at least as many staff, but the girl behind the bar mixing my wife 's cocktail was moving as a glacier does. The gloom descended. Finally they arrived. A mediocre margarita £9) and a pint of Kirin Ichiban £6) which tasted more like alka-selzer than lager. The Classic Californian Maki £16) we 'd ordered was bereft of any taste with the rice cold and undercooked. It had previously frozen written all over it. The Grilled Sticky Pork Belly £10) wasn 't bad but at £2 a bite wasn 't worth it. The Grilled Salmon on a Stick £10) was the same. It bascially flaked away to nothingness. 50 odd quid, still hungry, still thirsty. I can honestly say that similar stuff at Tescos has this beat. Very disappointing for a restaurant, especially one that looks so classy. Oh yeah, they don 't accept cash. Grrrr. Sticking to cumberland sausage sarnies from now on."
