"We 've been there before and it 's been absolutely fabulous. This time, it was for a birthday and we had 4 starters for the heck of it. All great. For mains, we had the seafood pasta very good... ... but then there was the mushroom and chicken risotto...not great at all... It was probably the most bland, tasteless risotto I 've ever tasted in life (and I 'm really not exaggerating here) if someone had told me they made it with tap water instead of stock and wine, I would have believed them 100%. The risotto itself had literally zero taste I took a few scoops, mixed it with a bit of sauce at the bottom of plate nothing. I then tried the chicken on its own to see if it had seasoning nothing it tasted as if it was steamed. Then tried the mushrooms on their own, as you would expect the flavour to have seeped in during the cooking process nothing like chewing old gum... I had my wife and kids try as well because I genuinely thought there was something wrong with my taste buds nope they agreed it was absolutely tasteless like eating steamed rice. I poured tons of salt and pepper on it, and then asked the waitress for some garlic which I loaded on top just to get some taste out of it. It is a real shame because during the previous visits, the food was amazing. Even this time around, the starters and main seafood fish was great... Unfortunately the risotto completely spoiled it. I will add though that the service was great, atmosphere was great as usual. Parking was a bit of a hassle but given its location, its expected. Can 't fault them for that. I will go again to give it another try, but I doubt I 'll have the risotto again... Lovely place. Great decor. Great service. I thought the food was very average though. It was the standard of a competent home cook, and not what id expect from an Italian restaurant at this price point. The ragu was uninspired and lacking in taste, and the pasta was a bit overcooked. We had their private room for 22 people. Great group menu with plenty of choice. Didn't rush us through. Would totally recommend but they don't have parking. The patio is excellent, and the flowers have a wonderful fragrance. Sadly, the food leaves much to be desired. The bruschetta was extremely hard, the calamari was rubbery, the spaghetti carbonara lacked flavor, and the meatballs were quite underwhelming. While nothing tasted bad per se, it simply didn’t meet the expectations of an Italian restaurant; it resembled Tesco microwave meals instead. On the bright side, the service was lovely and the atmosphere was great!

4 stars due to the lack of vegan options, except one pasta dish and side dishes.I visited Zaza in Amersham for the second time and I love the place for many reasons. As a vegan, I prefer eating in places with more choices on the menu. My vegetarian family members ate very well here. The food was good, we had the whitebait and calamari for starters. But we had to wait over an hour between the starters and main. The service for other tables was much quicker otherwise I wouldn't complain. If the waiters has noticed and appologised, then it would have been fine but we had to ask where the mains were. And when they came the food was good but not a single apology at any point. (I wasn't expecting money off or any discounts as I know how hectic the environment could be especially on Saturday service) As someone who's family is in the hospitality business, I don't think this is good enough especially when you are paying good money for a dining experience.
