"Two kinds of people eat here locals, and tourists following in the footsteps of Bourdain. We're in the latter group (although hopefully a little cooler than the Canadian tourists who showed up after us in a large group without reservations loudly proclaiming RIP Bourdain)....We chose to eat inside and were glad we did the sidewalk tables are nice, but the inside is just dripping with atmosphere, the kind that takes years to create. The server (just one for the entire restaurant), was insanely efficient, but you still may have to wait longer than you would like. Just relax, have another Sturm, and soak up the atmosphere. As for the food, our opening veal tongue salad was light, lively, and delicious, and my wife's meatballs with cheesy mash were solid, affordable comfortable food. My veal with porcini mushrooms was a bit dry and overcooked, but the sauce was deep and intense and I ate more of the potatoes than I thought I would just to soak up more of the sauce. We're so glad we came here, but just know what you're getting into. Yes, Austrians smoke more than we are used to you're visiting, so don't complain about it. And don't talk about how dirty or divey the place is chance are, there are some great places in your hometown that are much worse. It's clear to us that a lot of pride and hard work goes into the place, and we're honored to be on the receiving end of that effort."
