"If I could rate 0 I would. Today my daughter and I popped in for a bite to eat. There was no room in the 1st part of the restaurant but spaces in the part which is designated for people with dogs. I’m happy to sit by a dog no problem. In fact out of the 6 tables only 1 had a dog with them. We ordered lunch and started to eat. Immediately a waitress started buzzing around holding onto a spray bottle and cloth waiting to clean asap, as there was now a queue forming. Behind us was a guy on a table for 4 happily tucking into his carvery. She kept coming up looking at him. Then unbelievably she came to our table and asked us if he was alone. When she was certain he was alone she let out a big sigh and shrugged shoulders. She then even more unbelievably went and asked the gentleman if he minded moving as he was on a table for 4 and it was really for those with dogs. The guy politely picked up his tray and started walking around with his meal to find another space. I was astonished at the bad manners displayed and I pointed out to the waitress she was out of order. She then argued with me and quickly placed another couple with a dog. That person obviously then felt uncomfortable and started arguing the point that it was for dogs. I explained I understand that but it was disrespectful to ask the customer to move half way through his meal. He became more argumentative and his wife was asking him to calm down. In the end they stormed out without eating and shouted abusive language to me as he went by waving his finger. What an absolute disaster of what should be an enjoyable day out. The waitress was totally in the wrong and ended up causing 5 people to be upset. I would not recommend this place at all and would strongly advise the company do some customer care training."

The café has a charming open layout with beautiful plants. The selection of coffee and tea is great and the food is delicious!

Had afternoon tea which was really good. A variety of sandwiches, scones with clotted cream, jam and butter, indivual trifles and a variety of small cakes all of which were delicious.

I stopped by for scones and tea. The staff was friendly and the restaurant was clean. The garden center is preparing for Christmas with a variety of high-quality plants available at reasonable prices.

I always visit the Gardeners Cafe because I believe the food is a good value for money and of high quality. We are always welcomed warmly, especially by the Scottish lady who remembers our drink orders and makes us feel at home. We look forward to seeing her and the other staff each week. The fish and chips are delicious and freshly made, as well as the specials we have tried. I highly recommend the scones that are baked on-site and are the biggest and best around. If you come around 9am, you can enjoy the scones fresh and hot. George and I highly recommend this cafe.

Visited for bank holiday breakfast, this was our first time trying the garden centre restaurant but had heard quite good things previously. Friendly staff, nice looking display of cakes, not busy for a bank holiday, maybe 6 tables occupied. Ordered two fried breakfasts and it took exactly 45 minutes to arrive!!! The fried eggs were terribly over cooked, the yolks were solid. The side plate of toast had obviously been sitting on a hot plate as the butter sachets were liquid. Complained to the young staff but no one seemed that bothered either about the wait or the overcooked food. Really disappointed

I’ve been to this cafe in the garden centre for years. Sometimes it’s great and sometimes it’s terrible. Breakfast today: tepid and greasy food. Waitress looked guilty bringing it to the table; she knew it looked poor. Carvery, a month ago: tepid gunge that was badly slopped onto plate. (Lots of it though… if you want a heap of gunge, they are not stingey with the sides. Tea/ dinner 6 weeks ago: chicken burger and fries; lovely. There are 2-3 experienced waitresses who know how to deal with people and do things properly, but they also employ some zombies, who wander past tables piled high with dishes, as if oblivious. It really depends on the day. Eating here involves an element if chance. Y...

The food was ok, and the ambiance acceptable this is a garden centre, so I didn 't expect anything posh. But the service was just appalling. There was a long queue; at one point there were no less than six staff members behind the counter with ONE taking orders and five getting each other 's way making coffee and chatting. When it was at last my turn, the one server went off, with no explanation, no polite smile and be with you in a moment . Eventually she came back; one of the things I wanted was not available, she muddled the replacement, and then charged my for my full order although I had to ask twice for one of my items which had still not been provided. A total reorganisation and a bit...

Attended 16th and 17th of august. We are buying plants for the new conservatory and thought to pop in for a coffee and bite to eat.The garden centre is so well stalked with fabulous items, took us a whole day and half to decide what to buy. One of the best selections by far on house plants. Sadly on both occasions in the cafe i had to wait in a cue while 6 members of staff were chatting over the coffee machine about their children, tables were filthy! One member of staff who served me (blonde) smelled of strong “ cigarettes” she was very agitated when taking my order. She wasn't very friendly at all, very unapologetic when some items weren’t available and spoke to me through her teeth when I...
