"What a fantastic place with wonderful people! We apologize for arriving a bit sweaty from our bike ride, but we couldn't resist stopping for a drink. After checking out the menu, we had to grab a bite to eat as well. We loved the fresh, homemade dishes—it's a rare find these days! The cheesecake was absolutely amazing; I can't say enough good things about it! The service was incredibly warm and professional, infused with genuine passion. Such a delightful experience! We will definitely be coming back regularly!"

"very recommended of the beeenstock, horringer. fortunately we arrived on Wednesday night and we are unknown it is pizza evening. because I'm not a lover of pizzas, we told the renter we'd go somewhere else. but the renter has been excellent and could not have been more helpful. she offered to cook us chili con carne, to which we accepted. so glad we made it was delicious. after that she kindly offered us apple cake and custard. we are so glad that we have decided to try this. it was so delicious. the best I tasted in a long time. I really can't thank the renter for their helpfulness, ease and ease that has been shown to us. She certainly surpassed herself and nothing was much more annoying for her, although she was pretty busy. I really can't judge this pub very well enough. I'm sure it's worth staring. we hope that we will have the pleasure to visit again in the near future."

"Such a shame. The plough has been run by a lovely couple and pillar of the community for decades, the village was hoping the new owner would breathe a bit of life into it, put a different stamp on etc., but they seem to be lacking the fundamentals. When we got there, there was no greeting, and we were seated VERY close to another couple. It took 10 minutes to get menus, no one came to take a drinks order so we ordered at the bar- they had no soda and no half pint glasses? no tall glasses, no table water We put in food order at the same time as although we were not in a rush, our time was not unlimited. There was no mention of delays or problems which would have helped set expectations for what was to come. An hour had past until first contact from the owners, with a fleeting ‘yours is coming imminently’. At 1hr 20 we were finally served- hooray, however our joy was short lived as it was actually for another table that was also waiting 1hr+, we did finally get some table water with a side of excuses for the kitchen (although with only one person serving and one person in the kitchen I don’t know what they expected! , no apologies for the extreme wait, or any placating offers. Plenty of pubs cook Sunday roasts fresh, it’s not rocket science. At the 1hr 30 mark, we (for the first time in my life decided to leave. On leaving there was no apology or attempt to make amends, in fact he just turned away seemingly uninterested. Mortifying for all involved. Advice for the new owners: reputation is slow to grow and quick to destroy. If the pub is not ready to keep up with demand and give people proper service, limit the people you let in, or don’t open until you have got the required staff and equipment. We truly hope that they turn things around, but it will be a while till we try again."

"A lovely Cafe and cracking outdoor terrace but not if you have a dog. Your only concession is the Porters Lodge Cafe which is a hole in the wall kiosk tucked under trees next to the car park. Why on earth can you not use the main cafe terrace ? Compare this to Say Sutton Hoo fabulous cafe which welcomes all dogs inside and out. As a result we will not be returning to this particular national trust property until they catch up with pretty much every other similar establishment out there. Poor show."

"Server at the bar (supervisor, I think was almost impossible to hear, and I had to take my tea back and ask for a new one when I realised she had not given me decaff as requested (pregnancy dictates decaff! she swapped it without a fuss. Food was great, although I was disappointed there was no seafood option (tuna, prawn mayo, etc for the jacket potatoes. Foccacia was excellent, sourdough slightly stale. Friend had mezze platter without bread but was disappointed there were no stuffed vine leave available. Otherwise her food was great. My mocktail was large and tasty, but we asked for a large glass of Prosecco for my friend and ended up with a champagne flute full. Mostly great although definitely a few tweaks to make to improve to five star service."
