"We stopped off to have a look round Ashburton on a very hot day, and needed lunch. The Victoria had a small beer garden next to a stream with some seats in the shade. The bartender gave us a warm welcome, and we ordered a light cold lunch, and cold drinks. I had prawn sandwiches with Marie Rose dressing, on brown bread and they were very generous with the (small) prawns. It came with just enough side salad to complement it, plus a lemon wedge. My husband had the cheddar ploughman’s and the two mini loaves came with avery generous helping of cheese , plus pickled onions, gherkins, side salad, dressing , and pickle. He enjoyed a cold Dartmoor brew shandy, and I enjoyed a small cold Sauvignon blanc. It was quiet there, with the sound of the stream...what more could one want..oh yes..the toilets were nice and clean!"

Always good quality fish and chips. This is a regular stop for Tuesday evening when I’m minding the grand children! Recommended

A lovely warm welcome as usual from Gary Emma! So nice to return to this popular pub. Blessed this afternoon with their regular variety of live music, Chris Thomas a local singer song writer kept us entertained along with local banter. Thanks Gary Emma see yo soon!

We booked a three night stay, the place is filthy, and outdated, the after hours entrance/fire escape route was littered with debris/animal mess and dirty cages, we never stayed tried to get a refund £210) unsuccessful so far as the staff are rude and unhelpful don’t stay there.

I stayed at this restaurant for two nights and had a delightful weekend. The staff were amazing - very friendly, helpful, and energetic. Our stay included breakfast, although the pub food was not available yet. I will definitely be returning, as it is a lovely place with wonderful people. Voir le carte

I think this pub was recently sold by Heavitree after being neglected for many years. I'm not sure if they serve food yet, but I was really impressed with the lady working at the bar (Kelly?). She is very knowledgeable and has a great relationship with the customers. We will definitely be returning.

Absolutely Fabulous pub to stay in with very friendly and helpful staff. It doesn't look much from the outside but don't let that put you off as it's a proper authentic pub with a great little garden to the rear, great selection of beers and ciders and a wonderful atmosphere inside too. Room we stayed in was very comfortable and roomy with a very powerful shower. It felt like a bedroom in a Victorian house with plenty of character. Highly recommended.

We recently stayed at the Victoria Inn for two nights. The location is great for visiting Dartmoor and the surrounding area. We stayed in Rooms 2 and 3, with Room 2 having a separate bathroom across the corridor. The shower was excellent and the rooms, while a bit dated, were clean and spacious. The breakfast was of high quality. During our stay, the pub and business were in the process of being sold, with a friendly and talkative interim manager in charge. The prices at the pub were reasonable and the barmaid was lovely and always cheerful. The locals were also very welcoming and happy to chat. Voir le carte

Ruth and family have taken over recently and they clearly work really hard to ensure guests have a pleasant stay. We are a family of four and spent four nights there in two decent sized double rooms on the first floor of what is an old coaching house. Excellent value stay with a full English breakfast plus cereals each morning and a great base for exploring, at the southern edge of Dartmoor. Ruth, her son and his girlfriend were always on hand to help and also provide good local tips. Ashburton itself is a small town with a good selection of shops, cafes and pubs albeit a few had yet to re open following the easing of covid restrictions. Good hospitality always makes a huge difference and th...

We popped in for a light lunch and beer as we were passing and having heard there were new managers. In the past we regularly stayed for a couple of nights as the pub provided bed and breakfast and the beer and food was outstanding. On this visit the service and beer was good and we sat in the garden near the stream. Unfortunately there was no food on offer apart from bar snacks ie crisps etc or in a fridge two cheese rolls and two pork pies. Being hungry we paid for a roll each and a pork pie. My husband roll had two patches of green mould and he was reimbursed for this with no apology. My roll had been wrapped in cling wrapping for a few days but was stale and the pork pie pastry was soggy...
