"Absolutely fantastic as always!!!! This restaurant is like a little slice of Italy in Edinburgh… Completely authentic… The service is top-notch! We received a mini Italian language lesson from one of the best waitresses ever! The food is consistently excellent… We enjoyed a delicious wine from southern Rome… And picked up some grappa, olive oil, and balsamic vinegar on the way out!!!! How could anyone resist… What a delightful experience…. We traveled all the way from Yorkshire just for lunch… As professionals in the hospitality industry, we understand how difficult it is to excel… and this place certainly does!!! Valvona's is the best! It's a delightful cafe with excellent food and an amazing selection of mouth-watering deli items. The staff is incredibly charming and helpful.

Lots of lovely Italian food stuffs in the shop. Great coffee. Hidden cafe at the back has super friendly staff and a decent different breakfast. Very busy at weekends.

We had the most delicious lunch, cheerfully and efficiently served. It’s one of the very best places to eat in Edinburgh and to get to the cafe, you pass through the absolutely wonderful shop and wine store. I cannot recommend it too highly.

We had lunch and then brunch the next day. The food here is so amazing, it should really be in a Michelin-starred restaurant. I found this little spot 19 years ago, and have been impressed by it ever since. Staff are lovely. Meals are exceptional. Love it.

Great place for a relaxed coffee and delicious snacks. Breakfast also sampled and was very good. Coffee is exceptional (important when you drink it black) and all food to a very high standard. Very reasonable prices compared to the south of England anyway. Voir le carte

I went to this restaurant for lunch with my sisters. We enjoyed a relaxed and delicious meal in a beautifully decorated and atmospheric setting. The staff were friendly and helpful. This was my third visit and I have never been disappointed. It is a great place to meet and eat.

Not managed to visit for some time but booked for a family birthday for seven. Love the restaurant behind the main shop and it has a unique atmosphere. The food was good, reasonably priced (for Edinburgh) and the service was friendly. The only problem is that you go back through the shop to leave and it's too tempting! Spent another £60 on some goodies!
