"The Urban Kitchen is centrally located in Heidelberg in the rooms of the old indoor swimming pool in the Bergheim district. In order to use this Art Nouveau building, which has been empty since 1981, there have been discussions in the city for years until an investor restructured the building from 2010 to 2013 for use by gastronomy, retail, offices and for events. In 2017, there was an operator change of 250 place dining room and 220 people can be found on the very spacious terrace. The Urban Kitchen has since become an absolute public magnet. A reservation is therefore urgent when a visit to peak hours – for example Sunday brunch – is planned. This restaurant is one of the coolest and most interesting locations in Heidelberg. The rooms are located on the former pelvic floor of the Frauenbad and the Kesselhaus. Many old technical facilities were simply left as they were. The walls also spray an extremely rustic and untreated charm. Here the phrase “less is more” proves in the best way. The most interesting thing for me is the design of the toilets: In the former washroom, extremely angled packages of different sizes were created, which extend around a large circular basin similar to a well. You just have to see that. The menu is varied and the prices are reasonable. Various dishes have been tested several times by me and have proven to be sufficient for tasty and in quantity. For the Urban Lunch (mid-day table) you pay €8.90, the daily breakfast meal – from 9:00 to 12:00 – costs €9.95 and Sunday – then from 9:00 to 14:00 €13.95; but all without coffee or tea! The buffet is a little more filled on Sunday than in the week and includes everything you can expect from a good (not extraordinary) buffet:Lachs, trout, salad put together and with various dressings, antipasti, freshly baked bread, sausage, cheese, cereals, fruit, ironing, fruit, loose jams, small fritees and Nuremberg sausage. The young staff is very attentive and very easy to use without looking at it. After my observation, there is a very positive mood everywhere. In the partly very bright rooms as well as in the partly cuddly dark corners and angles. Here you really find the right table for every mood and for every occasion. Urban Kitchen has managed to be one of my three top restaurants in Heidelberg in no time. Annex: Now I have to add a drop of water to the wine, because yesterday I was once in the evening and not to the brunch there and ordered a large water. I have a bottle of 0.75 l Apolloinaris at the price of proud 5,10 €. This is not only overpriced, but also morally questionable, but taste cocktails at Happy Hour (until 19:00) 4.90 €"
Tous les prix sont des estimations.
