"Wow! A real gem of a country inn in the middle of nowhere serving excellent food at incredibly reasonable prices. Although isolated the restaurant was full for each of the four nights we stayed recently. There is a regular menu and an additional specials board so there is a big selection including five fish dishes, we sampled three and they were delicious. Each dish has a price and that's it. No additional costs like potatoes £4, green beans £3.50 etc, what you see against each item is what you pay.. Portions are generous and arrive piping hot. Drinks prices are also very reasonable, a bottle of Chablis is under £24.. We sometimes shared a starter or just had an ice cream for dessert and we are average drinkers but it worked out that a meal for 2 people per night plus drinks came to £76. Incredible value. Our bedroom with breakfast was £70 per night, again amazing value, but lose a point for not having a sausage with the breakfast egg and bacon. A comfortable bed with plenty of space for clothes etc, to holiday in England you seed to take clothes for all seasons. Please go, you will get a good welcome from management, staff and Emmy the dog, not a Lurcher apparently but looks like one."

Really good (different) vegetarian menu on top of an accomplished usual menu. The veggie choice was top notch, the mixed grill huge. Certainly not one for the faint hearted. Pleasant staff offering quick friendly advice

We've literally just got home from The Norfolk Lurcher having had, as ever, a superb time. The staff are so lovely (feels like home from home) , the food and drink were top notch also, but then it always is!! SI LINDY BISHOP

My friends and i tour foodie pubs regularly and this place is one of the friendliest we have visited. We all had lovely starters, quite a selection of meat dishes, fish and veggie meals. The host was also quite willing to tweak a few things for my fussy self!! Voir le carte

Could not recommend the norfolk lurcher enough. Family meal for a birthday. 12 of us in total and each and everyone one of us were highly impressed. Food was amazing. Waiting staff were so friendly and attentive. We could not fault anything. Will forever be out go to place from now on :

Visited with a large group. Delightful olde world restaurant and pub run by a lovely couple and excellent, cheerful staff who coped magnificently with the large group. Everyone commented on the excellent food. They deserve to be a success and for their business to recover from the pandemic!

Where do I start! I think the owner should take a course on customer relations. Overall he had a very strange attitude especially when one of my party questioned what she had ordered. I loved Fawlty Towers back in the 70s but didn’t expect to find myself immersed in some sort of strange 2020s remake! The food was poor to say the least and didn’t really fit the description on the menu. Quite simply I would not recommend this establishment. There are many lovely places to eat in the vicinity, this is not one of them. I will not be going back any time soon. Voir le carte

We had our works Christmas meal at the Norfolk lurcher last night. The food was absolutely out of this world. I had the beef brisket which was brought out with a steak knife….. it wasn’t needed…… it was melt in the mouth tender! The decor inside the establishment is amazing, everywhere you look you will notice something else quirky, and everywhere is immaculately clean. The staff are very welcoming and nothing is too much trouble for them….. including the adorable dog!! A huge selection of drinks behind the well stocked bar…. Including a choice of 6 bourbons! It was my first visit, certainly won’t be my last to what be one of Norfolk’s best kept secrets!

As previous reviews state, this is a welcoming pub with an attractive restaurant and great food. We were presented with an extensive specials board with several starters and main courses and mainly chose dishes from there. We had Cromer crab (3 as starters and one main course which was very good and three mains of venison which was melt in the mouth and totally delicious. Those finishing with home made ice cream and desserts pronounced them all excellent. A special mention too for catering for a gluten free diet (coeliac little mention on the menu but really well served with plenty of options (really sorry I didn’t have room for the g/f brownies! The wine list gave a good choice of reasonabl...

"Where do I even begin? The service from the woman behind the bar was shocking. When I inquired about dairy-free options for my son, I was told that nothing could be modified and that they don't cater to allergies at all! I pointed out the menu's claim that they could accommodate such needs, but my concerns were met with an eye roll. I then tried to order him some chips, but was told they were fried in the same oil as dairy and meat products, and since we are vegetarian, that wouldn't work. I asked about the vegan dishes, only to learn that they are also prepared alongside meat products, so there's no guarantee they would actually be vegan. At this point, my daughters had already become excited about eating out and the play area, so I reluctantly decided to go along with it and ordered three sandwiches on granary bread and a child's fish and chips. My son had a packet of crisps. When the sandwiches arrived, they were absolutely terrible. The cheese and onion sandwich consisted of two slices of cheap store-bought bread, some pre-grated cheese, and a few onion slices—without even a hint of butter! It certainly wasn’t inexpensive; we paid £45 for four soft drinks, three sandwiches, and a child's meal. As for the play area, it was concerning—there were sharp screws poking through the wood chips, loose sharp fixtures on top of the slide, and a large exposed electric cable under the swings! We decided to leave swiftly; it was such a disappointing way to end our holiday, when it should have been a lovely final meal before heading home. I was appalled by their attitude towards me—I felt like an inconvenience. The food was awful, and I genuinely recommend avoiding this place if you are vegan or have allergies; even if a dish is labeled vegan, they certainly don’t take the necessary precautions to keep it separate from meat products. It’s truly unfortunate, as the location by the river is beautiful, and we were all so excited to be there, but we left feeling very disappointed. We definitely won't be returning."
