"Staff were lovely and very friendly but just found it very expensive with small portions. I have the roast beef which was nice but nothing special and was left hungry after, could have done with more veg, potatoes and parsnips especially for £20. I had the sticky toffee pudding for dessert which was lovely, but again felt overpriced for what it was. Overall felt like the portion size was a massive let down as the quality didn't match the price."

A real little gem of a pub. We found this place online so had no idea what it would be like but it was great. Lovely staff and delicious food would definitely recommend trying it

This is a great English pub with fantastic food and incredibly friendly and helpful staff, all at a reasonable price. I live in London, but we have even thought about making the drive just to come here for a meal!

We were a party of 4, celebrating a birthday. We had a lovely evening, the food was excellent and we were very well looked after. 2 of our party were partially deaf which was explained beforehand and we were placed in the snug table where the background noise is reduced as the restaurant was busy. We shall certainly be returning. Voir le carte

Although the food, wines and beers are still excellent, I was not as blown away by the experience as on previous occasions. The place was empty (20:00, Wed night) and therefore lacked any atmosphere. The waitress was keen to get our food order asap as I guess the cook wanted to go home. Service was excellent but it seemed very expensive

This pub restaurant is a hidden treasure. The dining experience is exceptional. The walls are adorned with stunning art pieces. The dinner menu is outstanding. I highly suggest trying the prawns or fishcakes as an appetizer. Although there is no parking lot, this should not be considered a drawback because the exceptional service and delicious food make it worth it.

We had a great time at this pub. The staff was very welcoming and friendly. The set-up was professional, the garden was nice, and the food was very good. We opted for the charcuterie boards and burgers during this visit, and it was a great choice! Other highlights include being dog-friendly, having good parking, and being just a short walk from the historic high street. Voir le carte

6 for Sunday lunch. This was my second visit and again I was disappointed that my food was not hot enough. The food was tasty but not enough vegetables per serving. Those of us who had beef had virtually finished our meal before the mustard, salt and pepper arrived (basics). Suggest when an order for a roast is made the condiments are brought to the table before the food arrives. Ok but not great. Could be great with a bit more effort.

Thank you Sophie and team from the Lindfield Dads group for a lovely evening at The Witch. I know we all had a great time, and to say it’s the first time we’ve ordered food, the shared platters and chips were a big success! The beers and food were delicious as always, the Dads were all able to get some well deserved down time, with lots of good banter and laughs had, and as always a lovely atmosphere, with such friendly staff. Thanks, Ant

"We go to Gravetye 3 or 4 times a year if we can and have been going for many many years over the tenures of several owners. It 's always a complete joy, and the current owner has done a fabulous job of getting the right people in, both inside and out. Tom Coward, the Head Gardener (ex. Dixter) has a vision and a long term plan that make continual visits over an extended period a joy every time we visit we are surprised by the continual changes we learn so much and the garden staff are super helpful and willing to discuss what they 're up to and why. The amazing oval massive kitchen garden that supplies the hotel is a source of wonderment and not to be missed. A visual and culinary feast. We 've never stayed there as we live reasonably close, but have eaten in both the old and new dining rooms many times. The new dining room sits harmoniously between the wings of the manor and although a very modern glass and steel construction, the inclusion of a fabulous antique (and uneven) parquet floor (ex. some french chateau) softens the feel and acoustics, making the room almost intimate. The floor to ceiling windows bring you right into the garden, even in the foulest of weather it 's a triumph of design. Then there 's the food. Apart from the presentation, which is exquisite, the flavours and textures always bring a broad grin, however grumpy I am! This is absolutely first rate British cuisine; the kitchen under Head Chef George Blogg is to be commended, as are the garden staff producing the freshest of produce. I occasionally try to photograph the plates, but invariably find I 've forgotten that rather crass move and have just launched in! Must also mention the front of house staff. Perfectly presented and mannered, they know exactly the boundary between staff and guest and make you feel completely comfortable and relaxed there is nothing stuffy or obsequious about Gravetye everything is pitched just spot on and nothing is too much trouble. We were there today for a birthday treat, but will be back again soon for a post family wedding get together. Cannot recommend too highly just an excellent few hours, whatever the weather. Walkability: Lots of paths. The lower areas are easy for those with limited mobility, however it might be tricky to get up to the kitchen garden if you 're not great on your feet. Food drinks: See my review."
