"Been a few months since last at this fantastic venue. It was a Tuesday night and rather than drive our daughter back and forth locally, for a birthday celebration, my wife suggested we pop in for tea. As is always the case, the friendliest of welcomes. I had a local Tavistock Gold ale, excellent, my wife the Wicked Wolf Gin, one of her favourites. We both had the Who'dy burger, which also included bacon and cheese, in a brioche roll, along with French fries. Superb quality. Along with the lovely attentive staff, there is, on alternate Tuesday's, a lovely fella playing piano. We chatted and he played requests. An excellent evening and worth knowing, they offer a pie and pint (or glass of wine) with chips or mash, with veg for £14.95 on Tuesday's. A great offering, accompanied by mellow piano music."

On a whim, we decided to drive to the outskirts of Dartmoor and stumbled upon this charming pub nestled in a village. The food was fantastic, the staff were incredibly welcoming, and it truly felt like a special discovery for my birthday celebration! We will definitely be coming back. Voir le carte

The Sunday lunch we had was average. Unfortunately, the Yorkshire pudding was burnt and the parsnips were undercooked. The service was slow, and we were seated at a table that was draughty and exposed to an open door. Despite other tables being available, we were not allowed to change.

I recently brought my mom here for Sunday lunch. She ordered the roast lamb while I opted for a burger. The food was exceptional - all homemade, delicious, and generous portions. The atmosphere was delightful and the staff were very friendly. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

This pub/restaurant on the edge of Dartmoor National Park is fantastic. The food and service are excellent, with daily specials showcasing local game from the nearby Maristow shoot. Located just down the road from Buckland Abbey, it is the perfect place for a casual lunch or special occasion. A visit here is definitely worth it! Voir le carte

We were pleasantly surprised to discover this hidden gem after visiting our daughter in Plymouth. We found this great pub online and called last minute for a dinner reservation, and they were able to accommodate us. The staff was incredibly friendly and the food was amazing, especially the desserts. I particularly enjoyed their personalized wine selection. We will definitely be returning and look forward to visiting during the daytime and summer months.

We booked two nights at the pub because we liked the area. The room was clean and presented well. The shower was excellent and clean. The area is great for nature watchers with dogs. The estuary is close, as is the moor. This is a proper English pub with locals and their dogs filling one of the rooms. It has traditional beams and stone floor. Breakfast was a full one and was good. However, I had the mussels (moules frites), these were the best I have ever had. The sauce was just wonderful, and the chef came out and talked us through how to make it. Chips were up to par. No its not perfect, the roads are flippin narrow. It is however everything I would want from a pub and lodgings.

"During our first visit, we found the pub in Yelverton gridlocked with cars, so we ended up here instead. The staff kindly let us in early due to the chilly and wet weather, but we still took a stroll around the attractive village. The other pub was closed, but there is a Spar and a chippy nearby, and the river looked stunning after the heavy rain. Community Christmas trees added some holiday cheer. Back at the pub, it was quiet inside with no music and a few other customers. The lower level area was closed off, and the furnishings were a bit tired, but the building itself had historic charm. The toilets were average. The friendly staff offered us a tasting of the cider as well as a bonus glassful from the box (which was a Lilley's still at 6.0%, very good). The beer selection was the usual DoomJail, so we opted for the still cider. I could envision this becoming a proper beer-focused establishment in the future, although it may not attract the right footfall or demographic. The highlight of the experience was the food, which was simple, unpretentious, and delicious. The sausage was meaty, the mash buttery, the peas plentiful, and the gravy piping hot. My friend's burger with chips and onion rings was also well received, and we cleared our plates. The portions were generous and served hot with a friendly smile. I would happily make this my local haunt. Bravo. We will definitely be back!"
