"We made a reservation here on St. Patrick's Day, specifically because of the big band performance. Unfortunately, we were not as impressed with the food. We expected a limited menu for a special event, but it was even more limited than we had anticipated, with only options suitable for children. Due to allergies, I had to settle for a child's burger, which ended up being overcooked. Additionally, they charged me extra for toppings I did not request. My husband, who is Irish, was disappointed with the Irish stew, stating it did not taste authentic. We tried to make the best of it, but were further disappointed when we were told they did not offer desserts. Overall, the service was good and our server was pleasant, but the food left much to be desired. In the end, we ended up enjoying a store-bought dessert on our way home."

Lovely setting, nice garden, good playground for kids. Very good pint of Harvey’s. Food was a bit variable, steaks were max, pizza and fish and chips better.

We popped in the other day whilst out and about we had pizzas with salads and chips. Pizzas were made fresh so took a while but tasted ok on arrival, salads were salads . Chips were best bit of the meals but very small portions...(cup full). Come on wheelers don’t be tight with your chips !!

Wonderful. A great steak and wine deal on Fridays and Saturdays. Beautifully fresh ingredients and wonderfully presented and prepared. The service was first rate and the team both friendly and approachable. If I lived locally I would make this my local. Unfortunately, nearly is...a little far even to make this gem my local. We recently tried the new autumn menu at this restaurant and we were pleasantly surprised. The short beef rib was incredible - delicious and the meat was incredibly tender. The truffle mash was a perfect accompaniment to the dish. Overall, the meal was superb! And don't even get me started on the creme brulee. Do yourself a favor and come try it out for yourself.

We stopped by this restaurant during our stroll from Woods Corner. A charming pub located in the peaceful village of Burwash where we received a warm welcome. The staff were extremely friendly and the food was top-notch. We opted for a light snack, ordering the BBQ chicken wings and a serving of cheese and bacon loaded fries, both of which were delicious. We highly recommend this place and look forward to visiting again soon.

Just down the road from the National Trust property of Batemans and a very nice place to dine. We had a late Sunday lunch/dinner and chose from a really interesting menu with the food suppliers highlighted, locality being the key. Serving a tasty pint of...Harvey's went down nicely. The Sunday roast for my partner was I am told very tasty. I thoroughly enjoyed my sausage and mash. We could only manage ice cream as a dessert! Bill for around all in I must also pay tribute to the friendly staff who were excellent notwithstanding knowing that another lockdown was imminent. Plenty of parking and easily found. Voir le carte

had a fantastic meal here before weeks on a Thursday nice helpful waitress eating was delicious, so we paid a return tonight. what a different, surly personal waited minutes to be given menus and a beverage order. our drinks were poured and left on the side while others were served. Finally, almost an hour after our arrival we were given our meal times, my man was wrong and had to be changed and mine was unthinkable. when our plates were deleted, no comment was made t hat my teller was almost full of just a finished we paid and came home to have a meal with us because we couldn't go earlier and pay for a meal we couldn't eat.

pub is now operated by new management so that the previous photos of eating on here are no longer up to date. But the food I had last night in the wheel was really great. they have offers in the week, and I and some friends enjoyed their cure for using fish chips for net and a waffel for dessert. the fish was huge, crispy, fresh flocty fish with many perfectly cooked chips and some muddy heaps. dessert very tasty and finished the meal well. great worth! service was really friendly and the overall feeling of the pubs is beautiful, and I would return definitiw. it was just a scandal that it wasn't more business, and it surprised me that it wasn't. with food so good, and with these offered I wo...

"The last time I visited this restaurant was 6 years ago, it WAS a real hidden gem. When I walked in this evening nothing had changed and I was hoping the food would be just as good as I remembered. Service was slow which surprised us as it was a Sunday night and pretty empty. We were given some olives while we ordered (the nicest part of the meal unfortunately). My boyfriend ordered the garlic focaccia with caramelised onion; the bits that had cheese and onion on were very tasty but this was only about 30% of the focaccia, the rest of the bread was over cooked and bland. I ordered bruschetta which was completely underwhelming. 4 small pre sliced bits of stale bread, some chopped up soft tomato and pesto with rocket in the centre. I could have made this at home. For mains I ordered what I always used to have, linguine alla marinara. The portion of pasta was decent, however I only counted 6 pieces of seafood and one large prawn on the top. The menu states it also comes with tomato’s which there were none of. The flavour tasted like buttery pasta with a hint of garlic, again completely underwhelming. My boyfriend ordered spaghetti meatballs. A large portion but completely inedible as it was absolutely disgusting. The sauce tasted like pure tomato purée, so lumpy and stodgy and the meatballs were like nothing we had ever tasted, VILE. We decided to bring the rest of the portion home for my mum (a head chef) to try. We wanted to know what she thought the flavour was as we were confused as to how you can make a meatball taste so vulgar! She spat it out immediately saying it tasted like it had either been cooked in or made with rancid/old fat. The cherry on the top for us was when we asked for the bill. We were given the generic boiled sweets that come with it. 2 of the boiled sweets were in wrappers however there was a third that stuck them all together that was half chewed, out of it’s wrapper. The place was COVERED in cobwebs, decor completely outdated with many flashing lights, menu pages stuck together and stank, looked like they had many a drink spilt over them and not once changed. Don’t even get me started on the toilets! We cleaned our own cutlery it was so filthy and swapped side plates with an empty table next to us as ours had food still on them. Left feeling completely disappointed and are both now suffering with major trumps. Will not be returning again!"

"We had a voucher for a sparkling tea. Reassured by their website that pronounced their covid measurs were above government guidelines I allayed my 93 year olds Mums fear about going. We were able to sit outside which was of much covid reassurance to Mum...And all was well in this wonderful place which Mum pronounced to be 'the real macoy '...they even catered very impressively for my vegan diet...all was well until we paid in the reception lounge. Mum had thought we would not need to hand over our gift card as they had already got our details when we booked on the phone, but not so...she wore her mask, I was lulled into a false sense of security and destracted that Mums very poor hearing meant she had not heard and was about to walk out the door in her unstable on her feet way, as I handed the voucher over minus my mask to the unmasked young man. Mum observed no one in the lounge was wearing a mask, and the young man got very close to me. I do think this is indefensible. Today the government has changed their rules so today they would all have to be wearing their masks, but surely it 's good sense. On reflection I noted our two waitresses were walking pretty close to ' each other too. Most of the clientele seemed to be over 60...surely they have a duty of care. When i check trip advisor for much humbler eating places, alot have staff wearing masks before the government told them they must...WHY NOT HERE!? I did phone them today..I was told staff do get a temperature screen every day ...but that is only an indication. I was impressed they had hands free alcohol gel dispensers, they took our details, wiped our tables and others every hour and after someone has dined. Its a wonderful place which has let itself down."
